pangolinpictures 10-22-2002, 06:35 PM hello,
as i posted earlier, i work for a documentary production co. that is currently doing a TVography on FOL for A&E. We need Behind the Scenes footage and have so far found none.
Some of you mentioned having seen some on Entertainment Tonight and E! True Hollywood Story. Does anybody:
-know the exact dates these aired?
or even better:
-have a video copy we could buy from you (or copy and send you back the original?)
Please let us know-
thanks!

The Bloopers...didn't they air on that NBC 75th aniversary thing? I don't remember any BLOOPERS on the E! True Hollywood story, just clips from episodes... but I do remember people talking about bloopers or something on the 75th anniversary thing for NBC? That was the day Karly met Lisa...cause I just went back and read that topic, so that would've aired.....May 5th, 2001...but I dont' know if it was just a clip from "Dope" that they showed, or if they showed bloopers too...
FOLrocks1 10-22-2002, 07:07 PM I have the blooper that aired about a year or so ago hosted by Dick Clark.....It was [I think] from the 2nd Season.
FOLrocks1 10-22-2002, 07:09 PM Oh yeah.....I also have an ET special about something FOL and it showed a little bit of Asada Kalada [SP?] working on the set of Edna's Edibles with Lisa and nancy....It is somewhat short...
KarenTj24 10-22-2002, 07:35 PM The original airdate for "The E! True Hollywood Story: The Facts of Life Girls" was 11/28/99 on the E! Channel. Re-runs aired 3/22/00, 6/27/01, 10/15/01.
"Entertainment Tonight" (a/k/a ET) air dates (one of these ET episodes had the FOL behind-the-scenes footage from 1982, I believe):
Nov. 18, 2000 - Lisa interviewed for "TV's Greatest Scandals" segment (ET Weekend edition) (re-aired 6/2/01)
Dec. 16, 2000 - For "TV's Missing Stars" episode, ET used the same Lisa footage as the "TV's Greatest Scandal" episode but changed the narration; this episode included Kim Fields footage (ET Weekend edition)
Feb. 3, 2001 - For "The Pressure To Be Thin In Hollywood" episode, ET used once again used the same Lisa footage as the "TV's Greatest Scandals" segment but changed the narration (ET Weekend edition) (re-aired 8/25/01)
March 10, 2001 - For "Whatever Happened To Your Favorite TV Stars?" episode, ET once again used the same Lisa footage as the "TV's Missing Stars" segment but changed the narration (ET Weekend) edition; this episode included Kim Fields footage and 1985 Mindy Cohn footage (re-aired 10/13/01)
July 24, 2001 - ET aired a segment about Lisa and her family's year-long RV trip. Filmed 7/13/01, the day they left on their RV adventure
Sept. 27, 2001 - ET went behind-the-scenes of the FOL reunion movie being filmed in Toronto
KarenTj24 10-22-2002, 07:42 PM Ooops, forgot that a vidclip from one of the Entertainment Tonight shows might still be on this webpage. Click on the video link at:
http://www.etonline.com/celebrity/a3485.htm
Also, if you're interested in a (very long) transcript from the 1999 E! True Hollywood Story show on FOL (until you can snag a copy of the video), you can find it here on two pages:
http://geocities.com/nmmc77/transcripts06a.html (Part 1)
and

pangolinpictures 10-23-2002, 10:09 AM Does anybody have the E! True Hollywood Story on FOL that we could buy a copy of from you?

bummer.... i thought this would actually be new clips. not just a true hollywood story remake.
pangolinpictures 10-23-2002, 12:14 PM actually there is plenty of new footage. We've already shot interviews w/ many of the cast, writers, and producers. We simply need some behind the scenes footage from the series
FOLrocks1 10-23-2002, 12:24 PM I have the FOL E! True Hollywood story....wasn't it titled "The Facts of Life Girls"?

You mean as huge a broadcast company as A&E can't call up E! and ask them for a copy? That sounds quite odd. Plus, you can't just "use" a copy -- there are copyright laws and such...
What's goin on here?

I'm not sure if this is the same thing that was going on on a GWTW community I belong to but I think A&E, The discovery Channel ect hire small film makers to make documentaries for them...I'm not sure how it works exactly but I know this is what I have heard before...

Mr. Stefani 10-23-2002, 04:07 PM I'm with Jayman... I doubt that any production company would go onto a fan site and ask for used tapes to broadcast on A&E. Maybe if it were for some independent channel. Its kind of unprofessional..do your own research.
KarenTj24 10-23-2002, 04:13 PM And I'm not with Jayman or Timmy. I forgot who it was, but someone in our group I believe was contacted from the E! folks to get photos for their True Hollywood Story on the FOL Girls. Was it you, Todd? And the material was used. The internet is a fantastic place to get info like they're doing or to reach fans who are willing to help out

Photos may be different because they be considered "public domain." However, the E! program is not that old (2-3 years maybe), and was obviously put together by them.
I do agree, Karen, that the internet is a great place for finding out information (from fans or professionals). However, I would think that using the show without their "expressed written consent" that is often stated in the credits, there could be legal problems.
I'm not sure who is right and who is wrong. I just find it odd.
I am contacted by production companies all the time folks. It is nothing out of the ordinary. I helped with photos and footage (from the FOL pilot and other DS episodes) for the Dana Plato E! True Hollywood Story and also have provided photos and memorabilia for the Henry Winkler A&E Biography. Just because they are asking for footage does not mean they are planning on using it within the actual TVography, they could just be gathering it for background information.
pangolinpictures 10-23-2002, 05:26 PM as interesting as it is to listen to everyone's thoughts on my industry, I'll go ahead and clear a few things up. I work for a small documentary production company that is contracted by A&E to produce programming for their networks (be it History, Biography Channel, A&E, etc). I am not requesting a videotape for actual broadcast within the TVography; simply for our own research. As most of you are probably well aware, finding tapes of Facts of Life (let alone programming about FOL) is quite difficult. We've found in the past that going to the fans and collectors has always proved helpful and often led to inside information we may not otherwise have discovered. So for those of you who have responded to my requests, many thanks!

PP--
I just want to apologize if I sounded accusatory or anything. That wasn't my intention at all. Too often, there are people on here who "fake" things -- have fake information, fake names, etc. I'm not fanatical about TFOL, but I am a big fan. It's aggravating when people get on here to play games with the posters on these boards.
I'm completing my degree in journalism in two months, and so perhaps it's all the information swirling in my brain right now that made me ask the questions that I did. We are taught to always question the information because the legal actions that could occur can be devastating both financially and job-related.
To your original question -- Yes, I do have the E! story on tape, as well as the TVLand Fandemonium that aired 11/01. Unfortunately, I have no way of duplicating tapes. There are many people on this site who have the capability at hand, and should be able to help you out.
TJ -- Same thing. I'm sorry if I "raised a ruckus" on here.
I'll go bash myself now.
---> me :bye: :bash:
Mr. Stefani 10-23-2002, 06:05 PM My mistake.
MrsGarrettRocksMySocks 10-23-2002, 06:54 PM I have a copy...but It's on loan to a wonderful friend of mine right now...Although, If I can light a fire under him to send it back...I can make a copy...
BTW, Jayman...getting all the facts is good.I admire that...Nat would be proud!;):)
jayman75 01-17-2003, 05:18 PM Any word on how this project is coming along??? I'm really looking forward to it...
Hershey 01-17-2003, 05:46 PM Yeah-for this thing about FOL, did all the actors partake in the interviews? Nancy McKeon wasnt even in the E! True Hollywood Story so did she partake in this?
KarenTj24 01-17-2003, 08:25 PM Pandolin Pictures....Can you tell us how the FOL Biography is coming along?
JDS84 01-19-2003, 11:23 PM When is the Facts of Life TVography airing? Cause I don't want to miss it.

Pavan 04-23-2003, 06:06 PM A&E canceled TVography in January. Though the remaining ones that have been made could air as regular Biography episodes, like how Buffy will be airing in May. There is no sign for The Facts of Life one in the near future though.

MrsGarrettRocksMySocks 12-01-2003, 09:20 PM This is why we love A&E...
That's awesome! If I see commercials running early, I'll let you know.:)
Pavan 12-02-2003, 06:06 PM Bad news: Biography's Salute to the 80s week now begins 1/26(Unfortunately, "The Facts of Life" Bio was pulled).
“Biography Loves the 80s” week kicks off on A&E with BIOGRAPHY: JOHN STAMOS. The young actor came on the scene in 1982 as Blackie Parrish in the daytime soap General Hospital – and he’s been going strong ever since. Stamos may be best known for his role as Jesse on Full House, which spanned eight years. After two seasons, Stamos requested his character’s last name be changed to Katsopolis in order to highlight his Greek heritage. John is married to supermodel Rebecca Romijn and has tried his hand at directing and producing.
Airing that week will be :
1/26 8pm John Stamos (Premiere)
1/27 8pm Cybill Shephard
1/28 8pm Tom Selleck
1/29 8pm "Cheers"
KarenTj24 12-02-2003, 06:09 PM Oh well. At least we know they have a FOL A&E Biography. Now it's just a matter of time before they air it!
barwars 12-02-2003, 07:26 PM either way....
it works.
There will be a Cheers special!!
jayman75 12-03-2003, 12:54 AM WTF?!?!?!?!
Who the hell cares about Cheers??? It's as overplayed as The Cosby Show.

Cheers is far superior to Cosby. I wouldn't call 1:30am and 4:30am overplayed. plus, Cheers ran 11 seasons, Cosby only ran 8, so it takes longer to go through the rotation. and since slick nick reduced it to one new episode a night (the 4:30am is a repeat) it'll take 275 days to go through one rotation, as opposed to taking only 100 days to go through the Cosby rotation. i do agree that in it early days on N@N it was overplayed, but now it's hard to even catch the first episode. who'll stay up til 2 every night?! not I. I have 8am class in the mornings.
Shelley 12-03-2003, 03:09 AM I care about Cheers. The Facts of Life, Cheers and The Brady Bunch are my faves.
jayman75 12-03-2003, 11:31 AM Cheers is on my Fox network in the mornings. It's on in the afternoons. It's on N@N. It's on the weekends. It's on continuously. I think that's overplayed.
The overall point is... how do we contact A&E and tell them about this???

not everyone gets your Fox. I don't see the point of argument, so i'm going to stop it before it gets out of hand. you probably just have something with Cheers. Golden Girls is terribly overplayed and you're not saying anything about that. except it had less seasons so it goes through the rotation faster. and it's played at better and more convenient times than 1:30 and 4:30 in the morning.
jayman75 12-03-2003, 03:52 PM I agree, Golden Girls is overplayed. However, the show only airs on one network now. Cheers is on Nick, Fox, local stations, and who knows where else. So, it does get overplayed.
But, my argument is not really related to Cheers. It's that they did the work for FOL, so why is it not airing?? That's what it all boils down to.

well the Three's Company telefilm was filmed around August of 2002, but NBC didn't decide to air it until May of 2003. at first, it was January, then they pushed it farther down the road until it finally got to air in May. point is, it'll air sometime down the road. networks do this kind of thing a lot, so i'm really not at all surprised.
Pavan 07-17-2004, 01:07 AM A&E has "quietly" scheduled the A&E Bio on Facts of Life on Sunday, July 25 at 10 AM ET/PT. Not even in primetime, but at least it's airing!
NancyMarcAurora 07-24-2004, 08:14 PM I HEARD 10 PM...AHH CONFUSED LOL IS IT AM THOUGH?
KarenTj24 07-25-2004, 12:31 PM Yes 10am (ET/PT) today.

Dorothys BestPal 07-25-2004, 08:12 PM I liked it for the most part. There wasnt a whole lot of new information. Overall, pretty good,
Rebel Queen 1980 07-26-2004, 12:02 AM I liked it,it was very informative.Did anyone see when they
showed Nancy McKeon in that card commerical scene?

It was pretty good---not a lot of NEW information if you're a big fan of the show like you are, but it's fun to see the interviews, and they played WAY up on Charlotte Rae being incredibly important to the show and just all around an incredible actress, so I was pretty excited about that. The new interviews with Charlotte Rae, Mindy Cohn and Lisa Whelchel were very nice, as well.
jinnygirl2005 07-26-2004, 07:46 PM Does anyone know when it might be on again?

knowing A&E---check their schedule in about 5 years...they're moronic.
A&E's Feedback form (http://www.aetv.com/global/feedback/contact.jsp?site=AETV.com&NetwCode=AEN)
You could request them to air it, if you follow that link, but, honestly, speaking as someone who has rallied people together and tried it---it doesn't do much good.
Dorothys BestPal 07-27-2004, 03:37 PM Yeah, It might interfer with the 1000th repeats of Crossing Jordan & that Bill Curtis show that seems like it on all the time
