If you could change anything about FOL, what would it be and why? I know we love FOL. There are things we don't like on FOL. (except don't say gettiing rid of one of the fab four)

There are things we don't like on FOL. (except don't say gettiing rid of one of the fab four) Czas na Zywiec 10-22-2002, 04:23 PM OK, get rid of Kellty from season 5 and pippa from season 9. Let Mrs. Garrett make more appearances in FOL than just the first two eps of season 8. Maybe have not closed the store down, but instead have a much better finale focusing around a crisis with the store. And have Natalie have more than 5 lines and be in the closing shot at least, come on. Other than that, I thought everything else was pretty much ok. Impressions 10-22-2002, 04:37 PM I think they should of never have started with Pippa and Kelly, I can't stand them. Mrs. Garrett should have atleast made a guest appearence atleast once after she left the show. I think they should have had a better reason for Edna's Edibles burning down. They should have explained why Kevin and Ted left, it still remains as a mystery. That covers most of it. fr00ti 10-22-2002, 05:09 PM I wish I could have changed a few things. 1. I wish that the last two episodes would be writtien better, and It wouldnt just end with a picture of everyone together and ALOT of questions unanswered. I would have answered all of the unanswered questions, and had a thing at the end where I would have a scene w/ all of the characters future lives. 2. Jo would have never gotten married. I think that Rick was totally unneccesary, and they werent "meant for each other." 3. The Reunion-- Re-Written. Thats all I can think of right now. MrsGarrettRocksMySocks 10-22-2002, 07:04 PM Definitely the reunion...I mean, i'm glad they did one, but...It coulda been better.. Mrs. Garrett never woulda left...ESPECIALLY not to go into the Peace Corps for TWO YEARS...cause, the way they did that, she couldn't have come back for two years-unless she went on leave or something... Juss Like Jo Po 10-22-2002, 07:37 PM I think a little more Mrs. G and a little less (like no) Pippa...and I would have kept Jo with the tough girl image...because it seems to me like she wasnt as tough in the later seasons as she was in the earlier ones and that gets me mad...oh and i would have kept it on TV a little while longer...lolz ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 10-22-2002, 10:51 PM Hmm..I havent seen the reunion movie YET, but if its as *good* as the Growing Pains one and the Patty Duke Show TV movies, Ill pass. I liked Mr.Bradley, he couldve been on a little longer- he was the only male in the beginning so itd make some good comedy. But UGH, that other teacher- that lady with the 'fro...Ew no. Couldnt stand her. Pippa..well, I think thats all I need to say. Other than that, it was awesome! LucyFan 10-23-2002, 12:16 AM Here is my list: 1) First and most important, they should have never had Mrs. Garrett on FOL. It was a shame to not see her in Diff'rent Strokes once she left the show. 2) Get rid of the characters Blair and Tootie. 3) Give more airtime to Natalie for she was the most interesting one in whole group. 4) Change the show's name. 5) Kept the character of Molly in the show's entire run. 6) Add Beverly Ann earlier in the show like in the second season or the second half of the first season. 7) End the show like in 1983 or 1984. It just lasted way too long. 8) Add a gay character [that would have been one of the main characters) in the show. That's about it. ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 10-23-2002, 12:25 AM Originally posted by LucyFan 1) First and most important, they should have never had Mrs. Garrett on FOL. 2) Get rid of the characters Blair and Tootie. Meangya..whod be left?!??? LOl. 8) Add a gay character [that would have been one of the main characters) in the show. 4) Change the show's name. To what???? The show WAS about the Facts of Life! 5) Kept the character of Molly in the show's entire run. Ick LOl. She bugged me to NO end. I think if she lasted another season Id be yanking my hair out.8) Add a gay character [that would have been one of the main characters) in the show. Im all for gay characters on TV and stuff..but not for FOL. It was mainly a show for women and young girls. In this age, yeah who cares, but back then MAJOR taboo. And who would it have been? Jo or Cindy or someone?? Or someone else?? (I only said Jo because she was the *tough* one and Cindy because of that episode where Blair kept making fun of her..Im just using examples!!!!!!!!! LucyFan 10-23-2002, 12:33 AM MilkNPepsi, here is the answer to your question: There would be Beverly Ann, Natalie, the Gay character, Molly, and Jo. Those should have been the main characters in my opinion. ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 10-23-2002, 12:37 AM Originally posted by LucyFan MilkNPepsi, here is the answer to your question: There would be Beverly Ann, Natalie, the Gay character, Molly, and Jo. I think that Princess Alex was kind of stupied I mean she wasn't even on very long and she was so annoying the way she would try to help Mrs Garrett and screw things up 2. I would of left Mr. Bradley on unitl they had Mr. Parker because I liked him but I think Mr. Bradley should of stayed on longer instead of having that guy inbetween Mr. Bradley and Mr. Parker I can't remember his name but he was annoying 3. I think they should of kept George on through the rest of the shows run. I really liked him and it would of been fun to see one of the girls have a romatic intrest in him 4. I would of kept Casey and Blair together I think it was kind of neat putting those two together I mean Casey kind of reminded me of Jo if she was a guy and that's why I think they liked each other so well. Either that or I would of had Cliff come back that's another guy I liked Blair with plus he was really good looking 5. I would of also had an ep on Tootie and Jeff's wedding I mean why didn't they do that ep, through the whole 9th season all we heard about was how Tootie couldn't wait to be Mrs Tootie Williams and I think in a way we all would of liked to have seen her wedding LucyFan 10-23-2002, 12:49 AM Originally posted by .:MilKnPepSi:. Ohh ok. JW though, whats wrong with Blair and Toots? I just feel they are not two of the strongest characters in the show. Molly, I think was a great character for the show. I think the show declined some when they eliminated her. Czas na Zywiec 10-23-2002, 12:50 AM Originally posted by .:MilKnPepSi:. Ohh ok. JW though, whats wrong with Blair and Toots? He hates Blair because he once stated she was a rip-off of Marsha from Brady Bunch in a post from a while ago on this board and I think it's pretty obvious why he hated Tootie. She was black. And I'm not making any of this up, so I'll be glad to bump up those posts. :p LucyFan 10-23-2002, 12:58 AM Originally posted by Original Prankster He hates Blair because he once stated she was a rip-off of Marsha from Brady Bunch in a post from a while ago on this board and I think it's pretty obvious why he hated Tootie. In fact, I do like Tootie. She was a sweet girl with a good heart. I like the episode where she visits that couple at some radio station. That was a good. The one thing that I found very annoying was her "I smell trooooouble!!!" catchphrase. It got old after awhile. But all in all she was a good character. It would have been great to see her in more episodes of Diff'rent Strokes though. She should have been Arnold's friend or even his girlfriend. That would have been cool. The girls were apart of the show as well as everything else that was in the show. It would be pointless to basically post a replica of this thread to INCLUDE the girls in the discussion too as of getting rid of one of them or two, or three, or all four. But thanks for the reminding us. :) LucyFan 10-23-2002, 01:08 AM Originally posted by Original Prankster Well what about Blair? Yeah, What about Blair? Thank you for clearing that up. Although I'm really not "crazy" over the show I do like it. The show brought some very interesting subjects. ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 10-24-2002, 12:34 AM The only thing Marcia and Blair have in common is that they were both made to be the *beauties* of the group and theyre both blonde. But, we all have our POV.... Christopher 10-24-2002, 11:28 AM 1. No Pippa or Andy. 2. Add Beverly Ann earlier to the show so fans could get used to her and like her. 3. Never get rid of Mrs. Garrett. 4. End the show more better like The Golden Girls. 80schild.com 10-24-2002, 06:07 PM i agree with JENNY. i would have liked to see George around longer, with bigger roles in the episodes - He is the guy who should have married Jo in Season 9. I also would have like to see the scripts improve and become less goody goody. The worst thing ever said on the show i think was "Crap" by Natalie in Big Apple Blues. They never even had a big party at the house (not counting that "mixer" in the 'ratings game')- no one ever drank or partied (very unrealistic for college kids), and 'Seven Little Indians' should have been scarier - I liked the idea of the frige falling on Jo instead of the frog -which was suggested by someone in the 'best halloween episode' post. 80schild.com 10-24-2002, 06:09 PM i agree with JENNY. i would have liked to see George around longer, with bigger roles in the episodes - He is the guy who should have married Jo in Season 9. Natalie's Credit Card- Natalie goes on her spending spree and Jo asks her 'What the hell do you think you're doing?" Blair's catch phrase "I just had another one of my brilliant ideas!" was said much more. 70s show watcher 03-07-2016, 08:46 PM i would have changed the theme song i love the show but even as a kid i hated the theme song and still do also i never really liked the over our heads shop and i also think that the reunion movie should have been closer in sprit to fol and not the slapstick mess that it turned out to be |
