Cheerios has always been one of General Mills's bestsellers in cereal but in 1997 Cheerios began to take a different direction and debut their own answer to another General Mills cereal Wheaties. The result? Team Cheerios and as you watch the debut commercial you can see why Team Cheerios had a sporty healthy appeal to it. I think "though there is no proof of truth in this" Team Cheerios was originally gonna be sold in 1995 to honor the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta Georgia. But with it's mix of regular Cheerios brown sugar Cheerios and Frosted Cheerios made it a winner with everyone. Team Cheerios was on the market from 1997 to 1999 but it is best known as Cheerios answer to Wheaties
