View Full Version : reason
Do you believe everything happens for a reason?
Just a question floating around in the depths of my shallow mind...

-*Forever*- 10-21-2002, 10:23 PM OMG YES! If there wasn't a reason, then how come the phone book HAPPENED to be open on my gramma's counter?! (Vivi gets it). And if there wasn't a reason, then how come it HAPPENED that there was a Coach marathon on that weekend so I couldn't watch Cheers and redeem Kelsey into my love life? Oh yeah there's reason!!!
Hollow 10-21-2002, 10:30 PM This morning i had a feeling that i needed 25˘ for school so i took a quarter and at school there were goodies for sale for 25˘. Weird...
Hollow 10-21-2002, 10:36 PM O ya this is really freaky...1 time i lost some electronic game for a long time and i dreamed that i found it under the couch. When i woke up i looked under the couch and it was there, in the exact same place i dreamed it was in.
consentida 10-21-2002, 10:44 PM I believe that theres a reason for everything. I believe that everyone has a purpose and when they die, that they have served their purpose. I believe that everyone in my is in my life for a reason. There has to be a reason that I kno certain people, whether its to teach me a life lesson or make me realize something I havent before. I also believe that whatever tragedy or unexpected event that happens in my life, happens for a reason. Whatever happens, happens so I can learn something. But yeah...my point is...I think everything happens for a reason.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 10-21-2002, 10:47 PM I believe in reasons..and fate..oh wait..they the same thing? Ohh..and that just rhymed. Anywho..yes, I def. believe in it. If there wasnt a reason for every happening, what would we have to look forward too? Although, I dont understand why we lose our power when something weve waited all week to see on TV is about to come on. How the hell do you explain that?? Trying to teach us about being selfish or something? Some things just cant be explained!!

Yes, I do. There is a reason for everything even though sometimes we don't see it or expect it.
Juss Like Jo Po 10-22-2002, 06:07 AM I believe everythign happens for a reason...it may not be a good thing sometimes but....yea i believe in that stuff
Mossopp 10-22-2002, 04:17 PM Yes, I do believe that everything happens for a reason.
Believing in that isn't always such a good thing though. For example, my pal Emma moving into the house down the road from me when we were 4 years old and us then meeting and remaining friends ever since...........that obviously means I did something to deserve such good fortune, right?
But what about the fact that I'm stuck in a *****ty job, I've lost all but one of my friends and I've spent 20 years on this earth and still haven't found a partner? That means I must be a pretty rotten person to deserve such a set of circumstances, right?
I dunno - it works both ways.
I do believe in fate aswell, but only to a point. I think that, if a person is meant to be in a certain situation, then fate will take them there. But once that person is in that situation it is up to them to make the best of it - fate will only take you so far.
Kay Scarpetta 10-22-2002, 04:27 PM Oh yes, there is a reason for everything. I am a strong believer of that and that God does things for a reason.
I also believe in fate. As in bringing together people weather they are friends, lovers, or just plain....people. Trust me, it happened to me last summer.
Titania 10-22-2002, 04:46 PM I def believe everything happens for a reason...you may not see the reason right away or for a long time but its there and planned out. That includes all the crappy stuff that comes to make you stronger or teach you something about yourself. Looking back I can match up a lot of not neccessarily good things that have happened that had a very distinct reason for happening. There are some things Im still trying to understand why they happened- like why one of my best friends had to die so young- but i keep myself going by knowing that there is a reason.
I also believe in fate to some extent. Not like, love at first site everything is completly preplanned type fate, because I think that you can control fate...to quote shakespeare "the fault...is not in the stars but in ourselves." I think we are sometimes put in a position by fate but its up to us to act on that fate and make it happen or not happen.

I wanna make the point here that just cos I believe that things happen for a reason that doesn't mean that I believe that God made them happen.
I'm not a religious person - I never have been and I never will be.
ABlairican Pie 10-22-2002, 05:28 PM I always feel that when I've met Lisa over the past year that it coincided with something big or important, like last year between the time I saw her in Bellingham, WA., and two weeks later in Bellevue, WA, I found my mother's cancer had returned. And last month when I gave Lisa my banner in Portland and she said she'd give it to her kids at home to look at, I found later that her kids were missing her terribly and...MAYBE my banner was kind of a "peacemaker" kind of gift from mom...that I gave to her to give to them... I'd LIKE to think so, anyway. I was so afraid to give it to her at first, but...if you can add an ounce of fun into a person's life (especially Lisa's), it's nice to think that God's plan or something was behind it...
ISmellFine 10-22-2002, 05:31 PM Yep...I do believe this happen for a reason. Sometimes I just wish I could know what the reason was.

Yeah, that phone book thing was REALLY bizarre. I think there's a reason I was a Bonnie Bedelia fan. If I hadn't then I would never have come to the boards and met Caro and became friends with her. So I definitely believe things happen for a reason.
Crimson and Clover 10-22-2002, 05:51 PM yes i think there is a reason everything happens

Yes, I believe everything happens for a reason, but I also believe that with the things that happen, there is a way to change what happened before, and everyone just needs to be aware of that, although most of the time it's not possible because you just don't know or you don't realize it. But, as far as being born into a certain family and meeting certain people are concerned, yes everything probably does happen for a reason, in my opinion, sometimes both good and bad.
Faith 10-22-2002, 06:55 PM I believe that things happen for a reason.

Well....I get what your saying. I'm not exactly a religious person either, seeing as I haven't been in church in God knows how long (no pun intended) and I half agree with you Mossopp because well, my beliefs change every month. I can't make up my mind weather I believe in God or not and to tell you the truth, religion scares me... I mean today I can go to church but tomorrow I could not believe in God and have half the damn Vatican after me because I skipped one week of church......
OKAY that was way off topic and if I continue on I'm going to start expressing my strong opinions on certain views and points and that would start an argument so... I'll go.

Yes, I believe everything happens for a reason.
And the way things are going in my life, there had better be a damn friggin good reason!!!!
;)
ABlairican Pie 10-22-2002, 09:44 PM Many of us here have issues with religion, but what about SPIRITUALITY?
As Dave Mustaine of Megadeth explained: Religion is for people who send other people to hell. Spirituality is for people who have been to hell and come back.
Sara Micelli 10-22-2002, 11:29 PM I don't believe in fate. I believe that we determine our own destiny.

I believe fate brings us to our destiny and gives us choices in which WE have to decide for ourselves. Some people take the risks, others dont..
Sometimes I feel like just saving all my $$ and hightailing it to NYC and just see what life brings me. Madonna went to NYC with what..$37 and look at her now. Not that I wanna be a singer..
JoPol_wannabe 10-23-2002, 01:49 AM I truly believe that, no matter how bad or traumatic an event appeared at the time, absolutely everything happens for a reason - to teach us lessons as we grow in the 'scholarly journey' of life... and that this only means that something much bigger and better, something way more beautiful is waiting for us - somewhere, somehow!
That's my opinion.
