February 14, 2025

Max announced today that it has renewed the medical drama "The Pitt" from John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Created by R. Scott Gemmill and starring Noah Wyle, the series follows Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch’s (Wyle) 15-hour shift as the chief attendant in Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital’s emergency room.

“It’s been a thrill to watch audiences embrace The Pitt as an update to procedural storytelling with a cast who authentically embody the heroics of doctors and nurses on shift in a 2025 emergency room,” said Max Original Programming head Sarah Aubrey.

“Our collaboration with John Wells, R. Scott Gemmill, Noah Wyle and Warner Bros. Television has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and we are excited to continue down this path with another season.”

The Pitt is still firing on all cylinders in Season 2, but its familiarity has some slight downsides (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-reviews/the-pitt-review-season-2-hbo-max-noah-wyle-1236462762/)

Yes, reviews for The Pitt's second season highlight its strengths (https://www.google.com/search?q=The+Pitt+is+still+firing+on+all+cylinders+in+Season+2%2C+but+its+familiarity+has+some+slight+downsides&sca_esv=325502952459ac64&sxsrf=ANbL-n7Uiz6E2DZmcz2YiR_Xt1KrXRCLjA%3A1768017745923&source=hp&ei=Uc9haemfNoigkPIP1oPg4Q8&iflsig=AFdpzrgAAAAAaWHdYXCNR0iRyJ9bEe5U6ChkRpYhWNhn&ved=0ahUKEwipjM2ti4CSAxUIEEQIHdYBOPwQ4dUDCCA&uact=5&oq=The+Pitt+is+still+firing+on+all+cylinders+in+Season+2%2C+but+its+familiarity+has+some+slight+downsides&gs_lp=Egdnd3Mtd2l6ImRUaGUgUGl0dCBpcyBzdGlsbCBmaXJpbmcgb24gYWxsIGN5bGluZGVycyBpbiBTZWFzb24gMiwgYnV0IGl0cyBmYW1pbGlhcml0eSBoYXMgc29tZSBzbGlnaHQgZG93bnNpZGVzSABQAFgAcAB4AJABAJgBAKABAKoBALgBA8gBAPgBAvgBAZgCAKACAJgDAJIHAKAHALIHALgHAMIHAMgHAIAIAQ&sclient=gws-wiz) (realistic, tense, character-driven drama) but note downsides like the novelty of the real-time format wearing off and new characters struggling to connect as deeply as the originals, though strong performances, like Sepideh Moafi's, help. The show avoids typical medical drama clichés, focusing on high-pressure shifts, but some viewers find the familiar setup less surprising and new characters feel like "interlopers" in a world the audience already knows well.
