LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - UPN has announced its first pickup of the fall, ordering a full season of the new comedy "Half and Half."
The Monday night sitcom moved into the time period previously occupied by "Girlfriends" and has improved upon it, posting year-to-year growth in homes and young adults. Since its Sept. 23 premiere, "Half and Half" has retained at least 90 percent of its "Girlfriends" lead-in in homes, total viewers and all key demographics, including 91 percent of adults 18-34 and 95 percent of adults 18-49.
"UPN's Monday night is one of the most successful blocks of programming on network television in terms of audience retention throughout the night," said Dawn Ostroff, president of entertainment at UPN. "We're very happy with 'Half and Half's' performance. It is a very well done, funny show that fits seamlessly with the other series that night."
"Half and Half" stars Rachel True ("The Craft" ) and Essence Atkins ("Smart Guy") as half-sisters who share the same apartment building. Telma Hopkins ("Family Matters") and Valarie Pettiford ("One Life to Live") play their mothers.
The series airs Monday at 9:30 p.m. ET on UPN.
