The Times of London reports (https://www.thetimes.com/sport/formula-one/article/netflix-considering-bid-for-formula-1-tv-rights-9xd50qlm6) that Netflix, following its success with Drive to Survive, is trying to secure U.S. broadcast rights to Formula 1. The Times reports the move "would be the first significant foray into buying season-long mainstream sports rights by the streaming platform," noting that ESPN's exclusive negotiating window for a new contract recently expired.

ESPN will not be renewing (https://buff.ly/41flbEg) its Formula 1 rights deal (https://bsky.app/profile/awfulannouncing.bsky.social/post/3li4cdv7kug2d), John Ourand of Puck reported Thursday. Netflix said to be interested in the rights, as well as NBC.

F1 viewership doubled from year one of the ESPN deal (2018) to last season.
