I have been watching Friends since it started and just realised something.

Ross found out Carol was a lesbian in 1993 (according to the flashback episode in season 3)

Carol moved out in 1993 to live with Susan.

In the Pilot it is a year later 1994 and I might be wrong but wasn't Ross upset because the divorce papers had just come through giving weight to the story that they broke up a year before.

How then is it possible that Carol got pregnant by him, especially when one of the big jokes is that in the last part of his and Carol's marriage they weren't having sex. Unless they had a one night stand just before the divorce and Carol cheated on Susan, which has never been mentioned.

Hmmm.
You bring up some good points.
It looks as if the writers at "Friends" haven't been paying attention to their back story.

That's the problem when a series does too many flashback episodes... They can really screw up the continuity of a series.

AND - if anyone has noticed - in the pilot - when Rachel comes in Monica intorduces her to Phoebe, Joey AND Chandler. But in the flash back, the Thanksgiving ones, Chandler already met Rachel.

And since I have the 1st season on DVD, I noticed, on the door the number changes. Sometimes it's 5 and sometimes its apt. 20 they live in...It's weird....

Another one they did weird is in the 1st season when carol comes to tell ross shes pregnant she is played by a red/brunette. They have a totally dif. actress play carol when she has a baby and then thru out the rest of the show..

I can understand replacing an actor for whatever reason, but in the pilot i am sure they say that Ross' divorce has just been finalised ( that usually takes a year after seperation) and the very next episode Carol is pregnant. It doesn't make sense, since they never mentioned that they were together after she left him for Susan.

I think part of the reason for the number switch on the apartments has to do with what floor they live on. Since Monica's apartment has a balcony, they obviously live on an upper floor and if the number's go in order, 5 would be a lot lower than where their apartments are. Just my theory.

Well, in one eppy it says 5 and in the episode RIGHT after that episode it says 20 and than in the episode after that it's 5 again - they didnt switch apartments or anything....

Yeah, and what was with Rachel's 30th birthday two seasons ago? When the show started, she was around 25-26, and all of a sudden, 7 years later, she is 30 (and Monica is older than her, although they were in the same class in high school). Also, around the 7th season the story lines were depleted, so the writers started making up stuff that contradicted with what was shown before. For example, in an early episode, when Rachel was counting her past lovers while she was with Ross, they were no more than 5. In the later season, she mentioned a professor she slept with and at least three boys with which she slept on the first date (when arguing with Monica about Tug), so it does not add up at all. I know it's just a TV show, but could the writers be a bit more careful????

That's the problem when a series does too many flashback episodes... They can really screw up the continuity of a series.

The first flashback episode, in 1996, had a title card that said "Three years earlier" (1993) and introduced Joey as Chandler's new roommate.

Later on, on one of the Thanksgiving episodes, they do a flashback to "Thanksgiving 1992" and Joey is already Chandler's roommate.
