Question #1: What kind of faces do you tend to carve into your pumpkins?

Question #2: Do you get grossed out by touching the inside-gooeyness of the pumpkin?

I don't know why I care, but I do...

I always put a happy face in my pumpkin. I like to carve on a tall skinny pumpkin rather than a short fat one. I don't get grossed out by touching pumpkin guts. Actally I kind of like the smell and feel of pumpkin guts. It puts me in the Halloween mood.

I cut whatever i can...mostly non-straight lines! lol

The first time that I put my hand in that gooey stuff is the worst every year. I always forget what it feels like until I feel it again and I hate washing it off, cuz it all dries on my hands, and it's like glue. Ewww....lol

If you get a chance, go out and get one of those pumkin carving kits. They come with these great patterns you trace onto the pumpkin and cut out with special tools. Some of the designs are tough to do, but they really look great!
Last year, I helped a friend make a pattern of Darth Maul's face, and it looked really cool when he cut it out.

Btw, did you know that a pumpkin is actually a FRUIT??
There's a big field in the north end of Auburn here going out toward Kent where they grow pumpkins. The whole field now is dotted with orange ...

Who likes baked pumpkin seeds?

WHO LIKES PUMPKIN PIE????!!!!!!!!!:liplick: pumpkin:

Aren't there supposed to be better utensils, devices, etc. for carving pumpkins? It doesn't look safe doing it with a kitchen knife...:nonono:

Last pumpkin question: ANYONE EVER BEEN VISITED BY THE GREAT PUMPKIN???

I carve whatever strikes me at the time into the pumpkin. Sometimes I do scenes, sometimes faces. I tend to prefer scary faces. We have all year to be happy and only one day to be scary...I say carpe diem! But I have been known to carve smiley faces. Last year I got these tiny cookie cutters shaped like a bat, a ghost, an owl, a cat, etc. and used those to poke holes in the pumpkin. It turned out pretty cool.

I have actually never eated pumpkin seeds, though we used to make them every year for my mom and my sister. Back then I was young and not adventurous to try them, and now we don't do it anymore. Perhaps this year I will. Someone tell me how to do it....temperature and time, etc. Please. :)

I don't mind pumpkin guts too much, though I'm not jumping for joy at the prospect.

I've heard Dremel tools work well for carving pumpkins, though I've never done it myself ;)

I loooooooooooove pumpkin pie.

Anyone ever carved the pumpkin where you just take off the hard outer core but leave the inside part, so when the light shines though it's translucent? Try it, you can make some cool effects.
