In 1998 Brandy finally released her second album Never Say Never and when I finally got my copy of Never Say Never when I visited my aunt in Arizona during a vacation I was surprised that this album even though it was G-rated was the beginning of a new mature image for Brandy and I often wonder if Atlantic Records was trying to freshen Brandy's sound from teenager to adult with this album? Because when you listen to the ballads of Never Say Never most likely the hit Have You Ever? you can tell Brandy was headed toward a mature sound. I also found it shocking that she covered Bryan Adams's Everything I Do "I Do It For You and why they chose this cover for her i'll never understand. I also think that Atlantic Records tried to make Brandy be more like Monica and the late Aaliyah and something tells me that Monica and Brandy were rivals and that's why Monica sang the famous duet The Boy Is Mine with Brandy and Atlantic Records thought this duet would sell millions which it did
