Millions of teens and adults were fully invested in the show’s story, and especially in the romance between Ryan Atwood and Marissa Cooper. As the show quickly amassed a following, first time showrunner Josh Schwartz felt pressured to pump out story after story and top every episode. This desire to constantly up the stakes lead to the creation of one of the show’s most infamous characters. His name was Oliver Trask (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Trask), and he wasn’t a villain people loved to hate, he was a bad guy people just hated.
