A spin-off from this thread (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=400521) on the issue over Letter Case in Closed Captioning.
During the mid-to-late 2010s, there has been a gradual shift of closed-captioning for scripted and non-live programming from all-capital-letters to mixed-case or sentence-case. However, there remains a significant amount of movies, and a few TV series-es, that retain their decades-old uppercase-only closed-captioning on SVoD platforms like Tubi and The Roku Channel. A lot of Warner Bros.'s best old films (including the MGM films released prior to 1986) still have not had their CC converted to lowercase on SVoD platforms as of 2024. But what about the non-WB films retaining their old capitals-only CC on SVoD? Specifically, any old movie or TV show with CC styles 1 and 4 on this list (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=6286425&postcount=39) (those styles look the most antagonizing). Most of those programs' CC was done by either the National Captioning Institute or VITAC.
I'll give you some examples of the films and TV shows whose lack of mixed-case CC when available on SVoD I'm not pleased about right now (especially given that none of them are owned by Warner Bros.):
Films
On Golden Pond
Shampoo (1975)
Raging Bull
Braveheart
The Legend of Billie Jean
TV Series
Green Acres
Family Ties
Diff'rent Strokes
Gimme a Break!
Pee-Wee's Playhouse
To all other users, if you find any other examples of old scripted programs retaining their all-caps CC on SVoD platforms (free or subscription-only) yourself, please list them here.
