Malibu . I think they were pretty much supposed to have lived right near the beach.

Rich and famous people live there. Not sure how much college proffesors make ? I don't think it's as much as an actor, doctor or lawyers salary ? Maybe back in the 60's a Malibu beach house would be more affordable ? :D

I was thinking that if the show was in the 60s, the dad would have bought the house in the 50s when things were cheaper.

I looked up the name of the freeway and it runs right through Bel Aire and then on to another freeway that if you take a right you go to Pasadena. That fits two episodes information.
