It opened with an 0.7 demo, better than what the stupid Bachelor spin-off and recent seasons of The Conners and The Goldbergs have done there. Shifting Gears even helped Abbott Elementary to its best ratings in awhile, also an 0.7. Celebrity Jeopardy though, sadly could not take advantage of the strong 8PM hour lead-ins. We will have to see how episode 2 holds up, though. My parents didn't like it, couldn't stand the daughter. My mom also didn't like all the double bird talk, she wouldn't even use those words and said twice crow. :D And I can't believe how many online comments I have seen that the grandkids need recast. Barrett Margolis did well and was a good choice to play the granddaughter.

Rounded numbers from tvseriesfinale.com aren't as impressive, down to a 0.66 for Shifting Gears but still a lot stronger than leadoff Wednesdays have been for awhile. Abbott Elementary built on it by two hundredths to an 0.68, up over 74% from the last episode. Part of that could have been It's Always Sunny fans checking out the crossover. Celebrity Jeopardy at an 0.41 down almost 11% from whenever it last aired despite the strong lead-in.

Ratings for everything will be messed up tomorrow night. President Biden is giving his farewell address to the nation at 8:00/7:00, which will delay ABC's lineup by at least 20 minutes.
