Growing up did you ever have a favorite children's book that you liked to read all the time? My mom loved the book Love You Forever when it first came out because it's such a touching story about a mother's love and it's such a cute story. I also loved the Little Critter books too and I thought they were funny

I had some Dr. Seuss books as a child too and The Cat In The Hat was one of them and another one I had was Marvin K. Mooney Would You Please Go Now? and that book always made me laugh each time my dad would read it to me

Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham *I used to be convinced that the "creature" in Green Eggs.... is the cat from Cat in the Hat, I'm not totally sure WHAT he even is! lol* Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Squire Squirrel, Henry's Big Mistake, many others

The other Dr. Seuss book I read in school was Fox In Socks and my dad and I liked the tongue twisters it had and we memorized two of them. I also loved Little Golden Books and I bet many of you had The Poky Little Puppy and Tootle about the train because those are classic Little Golden Books

Was the Choose Your Own Adventure series that series where you could choose how you wanted your story to end and then you had to choose what to do next by following a chapter that said things like "To slay the dragon turn to page 5" or "To become a knight turn to page 7"? Those books were pretty popular when I was in school. And I believe they revived that series for a short time with new adventures added

Yes. I was addicted to those books as a child. It always made me nervous to select a storyline because some ended happily and others didn't!

Did you ever have any children's books by James Thurber? He was a well known artist featured in The New Yorker and his books were cool. His best known book was Many Moons about a sick princess wishing for the moon so she can feel better but the king doesn't know how to get the moon and it's a silly book

I never was much of book reader in my single digit years. In school we had to do book reports and I would hate the assignment. I was told in 2nd grade I had problems in understanding what I read. So the only book I do remember reading for fun was Henry Higgins or was it Henry Huggins books written by Beverly Cleary. She died in the last 10 years at age 100. Now decades later, I read much more reading novels, murder mysteries or biographies.

Go Ask Alice by Anonymous. This was a young adult novel rather than a children's book, written from the perspective of a teenage girl experimenting with the drug and free love culture of the late-60s & early-70s. It was controversial when published in the early-70s, but by the time I read it as a teen, it was considered relatively tame! I did enjoy all the counter culture references. Naturally, it had a sad ending to scare you from taking drugs. The title came from a line in the Jefferson Airplane classic song White Rabbit from 1967.

I used to also read Beverly Cleary books in school and I had nearly all the Ramona books and I also had her book Dear Mr. Henshaw too and that is one of her best books ever about a boy who writes a fictional author his life story. I also read some Judy Blume books like the Fudge series but the first book Tales Of A Fourth Grade Nothing is really funny and I read it twice. I also loved The Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder too

And they were cute and I bet you had the classic Sesame Street book The Monster At The End Of This Book when you were little? That book is so funny with Grover at his best

I collected/read a bunch of the Choose Your Own Adventure books, also the Dungeons And Dragons Endless Quest books, which were Choose Your Own Adventures type books, but in Dungeon And Dragons settings (and other TSR games.)
