Its freshman season The Rockford Files had a strong debut, finishing at #12. CBS countered this by moving Hawaii Five-O to Fridays the next season. Both dramas dropped out of the top 30 then. CBS moved Hawaii Five-O again to Thursdays and it rebounded back to the top 30. But The Rockford Files never made the top 30 again despite only having movies as competition on both ABC and CBS. Seasons 3-5 it still did well enough for full 22 episode seasons. But in season 6, Rockford's final season order was reduced to 12 episodes being on against The Dukes of Hazzard's first time on the fall lineup.
