Was anyone else confused by this episode?

Betty's friend has a fiance who becomes interested in Betty. But I'm not sure how the problem was resolved. The ending wasn't clear.

He came over and spent some time with Betty, and they were not clicking romantically. The girlfriend called, he talked to her, and then left to go to her house.

Had it been me I would have dumped the bossy girlfriend, and would have been grateful for the opportunity.

Another odd thing was, this was not the final episode of the series, as they were supposedly playing (last episode, then first episode). The last episode was a flashback to Betty's graduation in season 3, but most often, the recut flashback episodes are not run in syndication.

That makes sense.
