I watched an episode of Emergency. One of the stories in the episode was the firestation crew was watching Adam 12 and got distracted with an emergency call. Johnny Gage was obsessed with trying to find out the ending to the show they were watching.

I'm thinking that this really wasn't a crossover episode since characters from both show didn't engage with each other.

If I'm right then are there other examples of this?

One episode comes to mind from All in the Family where Lionel and George appeared in the episode but not on the set. The episode was called Mike Makes his move

Mike stivic is seen talking to lionel on the phone only. So you only see the Bunkers in their house in Queens and the Jeffersons in their house in Manhattan. So I would not consider that a crossover.
