If you watched a lot of sports you may have seen sports coach Pat Summerall coach a lot of champions to victory. What few people didn't realize about Pat Summerall was he did commercials but Pat was mostly famous for being spokesman for True Value Hardware from the 70's to the beginning of the 90's. I don't really know why or how Pat Summerall got to be spokesman for True Value Hardware but he sure was a great spokesman and did a great job in these commercials. Little did we know that these commercials would begin a trend of sports legends being spokesmen for hardware stores with another sports legend "John Madden" becoming a longtime spokesman for Ace Hardware until his death in 2021/22. As a little girl I used to adore going to hardware stores with my dad while Mom would be busy shopping and I would be his little helper finding tools Dad needed and it was wonderful father/daughter time because it was one of the times that Dad and I would shop by ourselves and it was wonderful for me. When it came to finding good deals on items such as paint tools and lawnmowers True Value Hardware proved to be number one
