Of all the NBC sitcoms I think the one sitcom that NBC should given more chances with was The Torkelsons because it was doing great in ratings and started out as a wholesome family sitcom. But I think what caused The Torkelsons to go downhill was when they created episodes with storylines that didn't fit well with the show. Like they made an episode with Elmo of Sesame Street making an appearance and why did The Torkelsons make an episode with Elmo in the first place? What was Elmo doing in that episode anyway? This was the start of why The Torkelsons changed it's title to Almost Home in the second season. And I think when Almost Home debuted I think NBC knew that The Torkelsons was ruined due to the title change and developing an entirely new storyline for Almost Home and I think CBS got the inspiration for The Nanny from Almost Home because just like Fran Fine Millicent was now working as a nanny. But I think the only reason why Almost Home got decent ratings was because of Jason Marsden and for teen girls Jason Marsden was a teen idol and when you put a teen star in a sitcom teenage girls will watch the sitcom just to see that teen star and how the late Brittany Murphy got to star in Almost Home i'll never find an answer to the question. But I think when The Torkelsons/Almost Home was cancelled I think the show's creator Michael Jacobs was thinking it would've been better as a syndicated sitcom and I think that's why reruns of The Torkelsons/Almost Home were successful on Disney Channel in the 90's. But it was really when it became Almost Home that ruined The Torkelsons for good and this reason is probably why you don't see reruns of The Torkelsons/Almost Home anywhere on TV even on streaming apps today
