View Full Version : CHCH Retro Little Christmas 2024
CHCH has announced their annual lineup of retro Christmas episodes from various classic TV series. If you ask me, they seem to get worse each year. This year, they will be an hour shorter since the retro schedule ends at 5 instead of 6. This is how it will look.
TUESDAY DECEMBER 24 - CHRISTMAS EVE
10:00 AM Matlock - Santa Claus
11:00 The Dick Van Dyke Show - The Alan Brady Show Presents
11:30 The Facts Of Life - The Christmas Show
12:00 PM The Avengers - Too Many Christmas Trees
1:00 The Odd Couple - Scrooge Gets An Oscar
1:30 Silver Spoons - The Best Christmas Ever
2:00 Three's Company - Three's Christmas
2:30 The Facts Of Life - Christmas In The Big House
3:00 The Facts Of LIfe - Christmas Baby
3:30 Family Ties - A Christmas Story
4:00 Newsradio - A Xmas Story
4:30 Newsradio - Christmas
THURSDAY DECEMBER 25 - CHRISTMAS DAY
10:00 AM Matlock - The Gift
11:00 Matlock - The Scrooge
12:00 PM Laverne and Shirley - Oh Hear The Angels Voices
12:30 Laverne and Shirley - Oh Come All Ye Bums
1:00 Silver Spoons - Twas The Night Before Christmas
1:30 Silver Spoons - Second Class Parent
2:00 Mad About You - Met Someone
2:30 Facts Of Life - Post-Christmas Carol
3:00 Facts Of Life - It's A Wonderful Christmas
3:30 Family Ties - A Keaton Christmas Carol
4:00 Family Ties - Miracle In Columbus
4:30 Newsradio - Stupid Holiday Charity Talent Show
The only thing that I see that's noteworthy about this sorry schedule is that "Laverne And Shirley" is the only series on the list that is not part of their current lineup. This leads me to believe that it may return after the New Year. "The Dick Van Dyke Show" will sadly end after Christmas so there will be at least one change to the lineup in January.
If you miss all or part of the lineup, you can now catch up online on CHCH's new free streaming service Parrot TV, where you can watch the channel live and see their shows on demand as well. You can find the homepage here:

Do you have any info about Family Ties? As you know about a month back, Family Ties was abruptly stopped for the Knight Rider. I know FT has had a lot of runs, and that I'm not complaining about. What I hate, hate is what CHCH has been doing in the last few months, abruptly stopping series.
Is the lineup shorter? Wasn't Pictionary still on during the Christmas run?
I do remember all these Facts of Life and Family Ties episodes were on last year.

The lineup is shorter because, this season, CHCH has put in Trending Now and Nightline during the 5:00 hour, two shows they really don't need. They would be better off having Happy Days and Cheers there like they always had before. Pictionary was on last year at noon, being replaced by The Avengers this season. That series looks like it will end sometime before the New Year as will "The Dick Van Dyke Show". Did you know that tomorrow is Dick Van Dyke's 99th birthday? He still looks good! His show is scheduled to end on Friday January 3rd. "The Avengers" should end a week earlier on Friday December 28. I don't know what will replace them, or if any other series will stop in the middle of their runs, (I hate that too!) but at this point I won't bother to guess.

Looks like they'll be starting from the beginning with "The Avengers," well, Season 2, same as last time, but my TV listings show "Leave it to Beaver" replacing "The Dick Van Dyke Show" on January 1st, without airing the last 3 episodes of "The Dick Van Dyke Show."

You are right about "The Avengers" which is a bit of a downer but hearing that "Leave It To Beaver" is coming to CHCH and Parrot TV is excellent news and I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing it again. The weird thing is that it doesn't show up on any of the online TV guides that I've checked so far but it does turn up on my TV set when I check 2 weeks ahead. This leads me to believe that either the show will debut on New Year's Day like you mentioned or at the very latest the following Monday January 6th. Either way, this will surely make for a great start to 2025 for me. Speaking of which, I hope that you and all the others that read and follow this page have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

That's what I've seen too. "Leave it to Beaver" is listed on the TV set listings but not online.
One of the great things about CHCH in the past was that once a series aired it's final episode it was replaced with a new series, now it's not a guarantee that will happen.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Sal. Thanks for your program updates, they're always helpful.

Thanks for the kind words. I always like and look forward to hearing your thoughts!!!
While I was reading them, I happened to notice another weird program oddity where the TV listings and online listings differ. TV Passport lists this week's and next week's morning schedule without any changes. My TV still has "Leave It To Beaver" debuting January 1st. However, starting tomorrow and continuing after Christmas, it also shows back-to-back episodes of "Dick Van Dyke" at 11 and 11:30 until it ends on New Year's Eve with "Leave It To Beaver" taking over at 11 and "I Dream Of Jeannie" returning at 11:30 after a week's rest. I'll check again tomorrow to see which schedule is correct but I happen to like this alternative.

I'm happy to hear that it looks like CHCH will show the last episodes of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" instead of not airing those final episodes and I guess we'll find out which listing is right in a couple of days.

torcan 12-26-2024, 03:54 PM The fact that they're adding Leave it To Beaver is good in that they're still occasionally acquiring shows they haven't run before.
I'd love to see them bring back Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart ('70s), Bewitched (original black & white rather than colorized first two seasons) and Get Smart.
As far as other series, Family Affair has never been on the schedule. I also wouldn't mind seeing something like Home Improvement turn up - that was a great show I haven't seen in quite a while. WKRP would also be great to see again.
Jim Phelps 12-27-2024, 05:46 AM Hello everyone,
Leave it to Beaver a great addition to retro classic, that something news here. It has 6 seasons with 39 episodes per season that about 234 episodes in total. It starting from January 1 to all the way the end of November. Unless CHCH stop at some point and who knows why. Just like Newsradio stop half way through due to possible low TV rating.
I would love to see one more time on CHCH which are
Happy Days
Lavern and Shirley
Taxi
The Jeffersons
Maude
Mary Tyler Moore
Gillian’s Island
Andy Griffins Show.
Hawaii Five O
Bonanza
Mission Impossible
By the way happy to Knight Rider is on now.
Here is the news show I would love to see
All in the Family
Night Court
Empty Nest
Growing Pains
Bob Newhart
Newhart
Family Matter
Full House
Step by Step
Perfect Strangers
Becker
Chips
Simon and Simon
Hart to Hart
Remington Steele
McGaver
Dallas
Knot Landing
That is all for now.

JetJam 12-28-2024, 01:47 AM It is good to see that they are keeping the retro schedule for another year. There is no guarantee that they won’t change things someday soon.
It would be good to see Newsradio again, but that doesn’t look likely. They didn’t really play the show consistently since it was added.
Some of the shows others have suggested here look possible, although its been a long time since they’ve played Newhart or Mary Tyler Moore.
Dianne3 12-30-2024, 03:22 PM NewsRadio had a Christmas episode on Christmas at 7 pm.
I rarely tune into CHCH in the evenings, but there it was. I'm assuming most NewsRadio fans were not aware of this.

Welcome to the club Jim!
I must say that I honestly like that first list better than your second one. If you get any more, feel free to post them here. Since people here tend to have their own CHCH wish lists, I would like to include my own as well for 2025 although "Leave It To Beaver" sure surpassed anything that I had expected. Here's my list:
Family Affair
Petticoat Junction
Green Acres (I really miss Green Acres!!)
The Honeymooners
The Addams Family
The Munsters
Car 54, Where Are You?
My Favorite Martian
Love American Style
Welcome Back Kotter
ALF
Night Court
Baywatch
Punky Brewster
We'll see if any of them get added in 2025. Happy New Year everyone!!
DEH55 01-12-2025, 11:08 AM Having Leave It To Beaver on the schedule is a pleasant surprise. i have not watched it in a long time.
I still would like to see Alice. Welcome Back Kotter and WKRP debut at some point. and i would like to see Happy Days, The Partridge Family, Taxi return for another run too. i always enjoy those shows.
