A new Canadian free FAST streaming channel has arrived from Channel Zero, the company which owns CHCH TV and other properties that you can find on their new service which they have called Parrot TV. The service looks like many other streaming platforms out there and so far the options are fairly limited. I'm hoping that it will get better over time but given the fact that CHCH has not impressed me in recent months I'm not that optimistic just yet. Here's what Parrot TV looks like so far:

The homepage features a list of options that are available as Live TV channels including CHCH and a few others that focus on news, reality TV, and movies. The movie channels are the ones that I might watch when I have time. One of them is called Rewind, which features top Hollywood movies from the 1980s and 1990s. The other is one that I like a lot and is called Silver Screen Classics. It's like TCM but without the annoying hosts. It shows classic movies from Hollywood's Golden Age (roughly 1930s to 1970s). So between the 2 channels, you have all eras covered. The Live TV section also comes with its own Electronic Programming TV Guide (EPG) where you can see what's playing on each channel.

ON DEMAND

The on-demand section is divided into different channels by genres: Movies, TV Shows, Family, Comedy, Drama, Western, and even a temporary Christmas section. The problem with this is that you don't get to see all of CHCH's retro shows but if you do see one you like, like "I Dream Of Jeannie", you get to watch only the last 2 episodes that CHCH aired, one from yesterday and one from the day before.

So there's still a lot of work to do and a lot of room for improvement. For now, I'm glad it's finally here after a long wait.
