Should be someone who at one point was in the opening credits (no guest stars or recurring). Sometimes the choice may be obvious, sometimes it may be debatable.

I’ll say after One Day At A Time ended, Valerie Bertinelli had the most successful career (Michael Lembeck had big success behind the camera but I still have to give it to Valerie)

Peter Falk was the most successful cast member on Columbo. He was also the 2nd most successful and the 3rd most successful cast member on Columbo.

Tony Shalhoub went on to the most success after Wings.

Girl Meets World - I think that at this point, is pretty safe to say that Sabrina Carpenter (https://www.reddit.com/r/boymeetsworld/comments/1cn0g74/sabrina_carpenter/) has become the breakout star of that show, surpassing Rowan Blanchard (https://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=461716), who played the titular "girl" in Girl Meets World.

That one’s a bit tricky, but I’d agree. They all continued to work. I’d go

First level, Aniston

Second level Cox, Perry, Kudrow

Third level Schwimmer, LeBlanc

For Happy Days, Ron Howard. Not only became a director, but a name brand director

Matthew Perry flopped in one season with both Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (which I heard was a really expensive flop) and Go On. The Odd Couple refake lasted a bit longer but it was awful and a pale shadow of the original. And of course there were his drug problems that led to premature death. Matt Leblanc's Man With a Plan lasted four seasons and is syndicated every day now on LAFF. Man With a Plan ratings were good enough to continue for season 5 but Paramount messed that up as it was shortly after they took over CBS again.

Yeah but Matthew Perry's movie career was quite successful as opposed to Matt Leblanc's movie career which was a complete failure.

I would say David Boreanaz from “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer”.

Started off as a recurring, became a regular, and then went on to lead his own show “Angel”.

After that he did “Bones” and now “SEAL Team”.

Was Molly Ringwald mentioned yet? She started out in The Facts of Life before they cut a lot of the girls out and just had the four girls. Molly went on to be in a lot of teen movies in the 80's, a very successful actress.
