The daughter of Theatrical and Industrail desinger Norman Bel Geddie, she was born and raised in New York City. Her first movie was less then well recieved, she was a hit in her second movie 'I Remember MaMa" She won the best supporting actress. How ever her most famous role was Miss Ellie from the long running CBS Drama Dallas. It debute in 1978 she was flat broke when she got the part of Miss Eliie. She said in her own words. In 1980 she won an Emmy for her role as Miss Ellie, the only cast member to do so.. In 1984 she had a heart attack and Donna Reed took her role as Miss Ellie,in 1990 Barbara came back recovered. She did not appear in the last to Dallas special or Last years. Larry Hagman said she was the rock of the show, she told me some advice and I really want to thank her for that. Rest In Peace,Barbara Bel Geddie.

That's sad. I hear she was happy in her last years living in Maine and painting rural landscapes. :(
