When listening to music I found the Patty Loveless song How Can I Help You Say Goodbye and learned that it's a cover of a Laura Branigan song that was Laura's final hit in 1993. When you listen to How Can I Help You Say Goodbye it will remind you a lot of Kathy Mattea's ballad Where You Been? and the ending of the song is a tearjerker so have your Kleenex handy when you listen. What's this song about? I know it's about a daughter and mother and the daughter have a great relationship with each other and the mother is always there for the daughter till the end of the song. Was this song inspired by a real experience Laura Branigan had with her mother?

^^^ According to the Wikipedia page for the song's history here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_Can_I_Help_You_Say_Goodbye), it is said that Patty's copy went to radio in March of 1994. The album that it is from was released the year before. Laura's copy has the same history, but it doesn't say when in 1994 her copy went to pop radio and so I don't know which lady was the first to be pitched the song. Sadly, I just read that Laura isn't here anymore. She went forward on August 26, 2004.

God bless you and her family and Patty always!!!

Holly (a big fan of Patty)

P.S. I never knew that anyone else ever did the song other than Patty.
