At this time, CBS had SEVEN soaps on their schedule (they were all 30 minutes long). Now there are seven soaps on the air, period (6 after ATWT ends in September). :(

That was awesome.

I love to watch old clips like this (this is pretty much what I watch when I do sit in front of the television set).

Thanks Monika :)

It is fun to see the way people dressed and hairstyles.

It is, isn't it? I love watching clips of the old soaps in part because of the clothes, hair and decor.

No problem!! I especially loved seeing a very young Donna Mills with David Birney in the Love Is a Many Splendored Thing promo. I looked it up and her character was a nun-in-training who left the convent. What a far cry from Abby Fairgate (her villainous Knots Landing character).

Wow... the quality of those clips was impressive. I recognized Donna Mills instantly! :)

I agree - the quality is outstanding for a 42-year-old clip.

Wasn't that Robert Mandan in the Search for Tomorrow clip?

At any rate, this is good stuff. I was REALLY young then (too young to remember TV) but I love it nonetheless. The writing and acting were much better IMHO.

And I think the ladies in those clips were beautiful. Loved the Sixties hair and fashion! :)

That was indeed Robert Mandan!! He played Sam Reynolds on SFT from 1965-70. :D

Here's Robert Mandan again from his SFT days, along with his on-screen love interest, the late Mary Stuart (Joanne).

Oh, did you watch it when it was originally on?

^ My grandmother watched it & I would sometimes watch it with her, but I was just a kid so I didn't really get in to it that much.

It's so hard to look at him and not instantly think "Chester Tate" (or if you prefer, "Lester Pate" ).

It's hard for me to look at him and not see him choking Dutch (played by another soap veteran, Donnelly Rhodes, from Y&R). I just loved after Dutch married Eunice, that all he'd have to say was "Hi, Dad!!" and Chester would start strangling him.

Yeah that was always a hoot! Really enjoyed the Dutch character in general, too. (and THE General, for that matter! lol)
