Hey, Flan-does it say anything in the book about him being under the care of a psychiatrist or being diagnosed with clinical depression? Just curious. The signs were sure there, loud and clear!! Thanks http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

I had the book on Freddie when I was about 12 years old. I did read it then, but was too young to understand it all properly. I don't know what ever happened to my book, it would be great to read again. Did it ever say in the book if Freddie was religious or not? I have heard that, but what religion did he practice? Just curious! Wish I could remember more about the book!

I came across a thing on him on a website in tribute to him which I posted elsewhere on here where he loved the 23rd Psalm. From reading it, I got the impression he was a Christian. That's all I know unfortunately...

Yes, both of you are right!! He was a religious soul... Though he did'nt go to church quite so often.. He wrote his thoughts down in his journal..When he was troubled or anxious about things. Sometimes he would talk to God MOre Later

I've heard it mentioned a couple of times on this message board about a "journal" that Freddie kept and wrote in. I wonder what happed to that? Did his mother ever say in the book she wrote? Wouldn't it be interesting to get a hold of that? Did Kathy get it I wonder? Do you ever think Kathy reads this message board out of curiousity?

Hi Flan-thanks for the posts on the books-they keep me going till I can get my own copy! Two questions if you don't mind? Does the book mention how he got into the drug scene and when it started? Also, does it talk much about his girlfriends and love life before he got married? Was he as popular with the ladies as one would expect? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hey guys! MOre questins answrred... okay as far as the drugs go he bagan with marijuanna because as he put it, everybody did it.. his mother was not too happy about it. The cocaine came on gradually then followed the pills.. Eventually as the story moves along, he quit cocaine becaue he burned a hole in his nose, but still the pills continued. When the people around him tried to take them away from him he would get them on the street. He led the classic Hollywood liefstyle he was constantly on the go betweeen LA and Vegas and elsewhere. Constant pressure... As for the girlfriends there were a few. Ladies he never thought he would get close to in the beginning of his career in LA.. Let me know if you want more!!

Yeah, didn't someone say elsewhere on this board that this was the episode which aired the night he shot himself? And in this show he seemed so much his old self, so alive!!! I may cry now when I watch my tape!

That is so sad. I'll have to re-watch it & look for that.

I had something weird happen to me after watching todays episode. This morning after my hubby got up, I was up for a bit before going back to bed. We were in the living room & started talking about Chico & Freddie & I was telling him about todays episode & how good it was. I told him it's a shame how Freddie died & told him I'd never seen the movie of his life (CAN YA HEAR THE LAUGHTER). Right then, I heard 2 knocks on the wall of our house. My hubby heard it too & looked looking on on his face like what in the world & we both looked at each other real strange. This really weird creepy scary feeling came over me as if it could've been Freddie. I'm not superstitious or anything. I'll read stories of people who claim to have seen the ghosts of dead people & wonder if it's true or not... Anyway, I wondered if it was Freddie.

But if it was, I wonder why he'd pick my house to visit. I always loved the show ever since the first episode, but never was in love with him back then or collected on him then. & Now that the show is back on TVLAND I've gotten into it in a big way & think he's cute! Well, I wondered if maybe if I tried to talk to him if it was him, he'd answer & that would tell me if it was him or not. I know it's silly to do that but I tried it anyway. I said HI to him & how much I enjoyed todays show & that folks still loved him. I got no answer tho. But I felt really weird & nervous for along time & got this weird feeling that he's up in heaven & at peace now. But that was strange anyway... God bless you Chico-Freddie...

I really believe the spirit of Freddie is with us. He's at peace now but, I feel there will be a big Freddie resurgence because he has a famous actor son right now. Young gals everwhere are in tune with Freddie Jr., so they will be interested in knowing the Senior better. I hope Freddie Sr. is never forgotten again! He was a gift from GOD who left us too early.

More book questions for flannelpjs if that's O.K. I was wondering what sort of social background he came from. Was he from a middle-class family or were there financial struggles? What did his parents do for a living? And of course, most importantly, was he an adorable baby? Are there pix of him as a child and growing up?

Hi, Cheryl,

If Freddie's been visiting Virginia, I hope he drops by my house, too! :-)

At the risk of sounding like a telephone psychic, I think spirits can be "stirred" by a lot of people thinking about them. Sometimes I'll be thinking about someone I knew (or knew about) who might have died long ago. There isn't any particular reason -- they just pop into my head. I believe the spirit is probably nearby whenever that happens.

Incidentally, last week I had a dream where I was doing a vaudeville number with Ed Brown, so I think Jack Albertson may be looking in on us, too!

Even stranger yet, I went back to bed & I dreamed of Freddie Prinze. I'm not really sure what the dream was about but he had on his bellbottom jeans & belt he wore on the show & it showed him from the waist up. He came to me & said HI & told me he was okay now in heaven & at peace now. I don't remember too much of it. My hubby now thinks I have a thing for Chico-Freddie. LOL! But he told it was okay if I did since he loves Rosie O'Donnell. He promised me he wouldn't tell my singer friend Arlo that I've been intrigued with Chico lately which is good cuz if Arlo knew this he's be so hurt. But Arlo knows I really love him. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hey guys, okay here goes... Freddie came from a working parents background his father was a tool and dye maker, he worked at night his mother worked in a factory making shoes i think... He convinced him mother to let him work in the factory with her to earn some money.. He broke some machinery there twice and he loved to talk.. He worked hard for his cash for a guitar and drums etc. He knew how to convince his mother pretty good.. He was very ambitious kind of a hard childhood being picked on inthe lunch room he'd cry because he was lonely and felt he did't fit in.. He claimed in an interview his childhood helpled him become the man he became... Yes there are baby pictures he was surrounded by a lot of love by his mothers side of the family..Lots of aunts and uncles, cousins fighting to hold him, feed him he was never alone and there was never a lack of love in his family.

Your very right Jenny, He was very loved by his family.. Af first his mom was a little worried that he would become spoiled by all the attention..but then like she put it"she just let it happen"... Even though he had no one his own age to play with it did't really matter much...Though his childhood was a little rough..He got thru it!!

Hey Luckymana58!
I was just checking e-bay books for The Freddie Prinze Story (as I do most every day). It looks like you're going to be the
proud owner of his book. I usually wait until the last minute and bid, but I decided
to wait and see if one is listed at a later date. I don't want to out bid a fellow freddie fan. Hope you get it! I've tried ALL other book stores listed on the internet
but haven't found any that are available.
I've got a few places looking for me and they're suppose to let me know when one is
available. I'm getting desperate!!!!!!!

Thanks catcopy, I, too, would not want to bid against you all. I haven't gotten it yet though. My husband has bid on old movies on e-bay and tells me he's been out bid at the last minute! This is my first time, he's the one with all the experience. I'll be checking down to the last minute though. I WANT THAT BOOK!!!

WOOOOOOW Luckymama58! Congrats on getting the book! I'm hoping to find another one on e-bay and bid. How did you know when others would outbid you? Did you just STAY on your computer or what? I didn't realize just how many people want his book. That should tell tv-land just how popular he and CATM are.
Anyway, HAPPY READING!!!!!!!!!

I was on the last 15 minutes. You have to be fast with the bidding and refresh every few seconds. Proxy bidding helped. I was willing to go as high (gulp) as $150. I really wanted that book. Everyone who has read my posts, especially mariposa, can tell you I'm an impatient person. I don't know if I could have waited for another one to go up for bid. After I read it, I think I'm going to enshrine it under glass. I just hope my husband doesn't find out how much I paid for it, but he's bound to ask since he knew I was bidding. He gave me tips. He bids on ebay all the time for old movies. Pray for me!!!!

In the book about Freddie, did it ever mention anything about Jack Albertson trying to help Freddie - or what his involvement in this was? Were Jack & Freddie even close at all? I just wonder about a male influence in Freddie's life. It doesn't seem his father was that involved, or was he? I am surprised that Jack, being so much older and also a co-worker with Freddie did not try and talk sense to him! What about the other cast members? Did they just stand and watch Freddie fall apart. I know that they all had a job to do, but what gives?

I read somewhere that Jack Albertson and Freddie Prinze where really close friends I think Jack tried to help him but wasnt sucessfull.
