I always enjoyed listening to the theme song of Family Ties but never watched the show. I feel the theme song was the best thing about the show.

The theme from Hill Street Blues was great. It used to be on the radio all the time, yet I've never seen a single episode of the show.
I like the theme from M*A*S*H toO but was never a fan of the show.

By the way family ties was a good show to watch, when nothing else was on to watch.

GREAT QUESTION! For songs that actually had words & music (1)- Theme from Beverly Hillbillies(may of been on Country charts) (2)- Theme from Love Boat (3)-Theme from Greatest American Hero (wasn't that on the music charts?) (4)-Theme from 7th Heaven (5)-Theme from Happy Days (6)-Theme from Mary Tyler Moore Show (7)-Theme from the Flintstones (8)-Theme from Hawaiann Eye (9)-Theme from Chico & The Man (10)-Theme from Welcome back Kotter (also on the charts) I'll probably remember others later,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I've always loved the theme song from the Brady Bunch, The Jeffersons, Wonder Woman, Growing Pains, Who's The Boss and there are several other shows/cartoons that have good themes.

I'm too young to remember this, but my mother tells me that when the theme song to M*A*S*H came on, I would sit transfixed to the TV. And only the theme song, too. Not the regular show.

I like the theme from M*A*S*H too but was never a fan of the show.

Couldn't agree more, Janice.

The same can be said about most cop shows such as Hawaii Five-O, even though sometimes I try to get into the show.

Dragnet, I find Jack Webb's voice to be very scary to listen to, but theme is still greatness.

I took me 17 years to understand the concept of Family Ties' premise, but theme is still good.

BTW, for theme songs that actually had both words and music, you could also add The Odd Couple to that list, although the lyrics were never used in both the 1968 movie version and TV version.

And I also probably think that Bewitched and/or I Dream of Jeannie might actually have lyrics unheard of as well.

Also, count Bonanza as well, b/c hearing Lorne Greene and cast singing the theme song (w/ lyrics) was both bad, but then again it's kind of funny.
