Hey whats up with that I thought they said that they were going to make this a permanent home for FOL I guess they lied to us to. You can't trust anyone anymore. I still think Lifetime should pick up FOL I mean look at there other shows like Golden Girls and Designing Women they have been on there for as long as I can remember, at least they give there shows a chance.

Oh you've got that right. I can't tell you how sick I am of The Beverly Hillbillies. It's going to be a never-ending cycle with them. Nick at Nite, TV Land, Hallmark, TV Land, etc. Ugh. While FOL and other great 80s classics are ignored.

Hallmark is going to hear from me. Maybe FOL will return in Jan once Bewitched and Jeannie are gone? Pav?

I think everybody can get enough of "The Beverly Hillbillies" since its way overplayed, but I think Hallmark has got to get there facts straight and keep airing "The Facts of Life", atleast it had its chance to air, its a good thing that Hallmark had picked it up, but it is yet a bad thing that they had to take it off their line-up which only has been on since, July 1st. It seems that Hallmark can't make up their minds, first they think they should air "The Lucy Show", then they take off "The Facts of Life". I can see "Perry Mason" by the the looks of the schedule it looks as if they have double the airings, I don't see why they can't ad just one time-slot, for FOL, it wouldn't hurt. I know Hallmark was thinking of keeping the show for awhile, but who knows it could be on Hiatus, or will perhaps air on a weekend slot and that will be fine. Maybe Hallmark is doing the same thing as "ALF", correct me if I'm wrong, it dissapeared from the weekday schedule, and has yet again appear on Saturdays. The Same thing could happen to FOL. I was hoping Hallmark would be bright, and keep TLS and FOL, but I guess you can prove me wrong. Hopefully it can head on over to TV Land, I'd be certainly glad if they did, even if it airs, late at night, if they don't I hope one network would pick it up.

I'm 50/50 on the subject; because now we know why Hallmark was in such a rush to air the series by skipping nearly 20 some episodes. It's pretty clear they didn't intend to keep it; but I pray I'm right and that it does come back in December or January.

Oh, have you guys checked out TVL's November details; I am in disbelief at their "Thanksgiving" special block of programming; all it is is airings of episodes already aired several times in the Better Living Sunday morning block, it's not even Thanksgiving episodes, LOL. TVL seriously needs to think of replacing their programming managers.

That does suck. I now what you mean about trying to tape all the episodes of your favorite show and then the network all of a sudden stops showing it. That's what i'm going through with TNN concerning Three's Company.

It's obvious, because I did, I have been recording ever since it has started to air on Hallmark, and I think its a good Idea because you never know, some sitcoms can go off a network very quickly and without notice.

I think Hallmark was rushing to get to the end of the series, and they have been skipping way to many episodes. It seems like Hallmark didn't need the show, they just probably used it to fill a time-slot. They probably wanted to go through the whole series, before they lose their rights to air the show, that's one of the reasons they have been skipping episodes. I'm guessing they lost the rights to FOL in November since it isn't on the schedule. Since it has gone they want to air new show, replacing some of the shows they have aired.

I've been thinking about what you just said CiB, and the last time FOL was on TVL was, guess what, November 2001. A year later, it's gone again. I have a feeling Hallmark had the rights for quite some time before they started to air in July... just a hunch... I'm probably wrong, but in a way, it makes sense...

Yeah, that is weird, Nick-at-Nite aired the series I think in June 2000 and has left one year later in June 2001 and just one month after that it was picked-up by Hallmark. The same thing happend to Hallmark, The FOL was on TV Land in November, and Hallmark has took it off one year later in November 2002. That is interesting.

I hope TV Land will air some episodes in their Merry-thon coming up in December. We'll get a chance to see what we have been missing.

Just when I started to think Hallmark had picked up it's act, they go and replace it with those damn Hillbillies. I'm hoping it comes back in January, but I really doubt it now. OK... here's my take on it.

1. I don't get Hallmark, so I already went through my aggravation several months back.

2. I would bet a fair sum of money to say that TFOL will probably not be rerunning on any network anytime soon. It's gone through 3.5 (USA, Nick, Hallmark and TVLand only counts for a half). Apparently it's not getting the numbers that the network(s) want, OR it could be "on loan" to Hallmark, and only given a certain length of time to run.

3. I know people are bitching about recording the show and saving it for later. Honestly, we can't blame Hallmark for their editing. As much as so many of us enjoy the show, there are people who would probably love to see something replace it. Hallmark isn't a major network -- they probably have to keep changing their lineups to bring new viewers in. As I said in #1, I don't have the network so I haven't followed their listings at all. But, I would bet they are doing something like N@N, TVLand, etc are doing -- giving a show some air time, get people hooked to the "network" (not the show), and then adding new things to maintain the interest.

4. As for recording -- there is no real way to have the original except to have the original. I found an old tape of The Golden Girls ORIGINAL RUN on NBC that were the two episodes where Rose has bypass surgery. Sure, there were some differences, but the story was still there. So, the best bet is to tape what you can, order from Columbia House, and try to find others out there to trade tapes with.

I'm not saying this to be mean or anything to anyone. I would love to see it come back to a major network or cable provider (TBS, are you listening?!?!?). Unfortunately, I understand the network view as well. The economy is bad, and advertisers are highly selective of where they put their money. Why put money into a show that is a repeat and has been on that same network for two years (or six months even). If there is something new that intrigues viewers to turn in, that's the time to spend money.

Life sucks, kids. I'm 26 and I'm ready to go back to preschool -- cookies at lunch, naps in the afternoon, and Kermit the Frog is your best (TV) friend.

Let the comments begin... I'm ready...

Okay, we need to get a petition to get EVERY episode on dvd and vhs. I'm sick of the way some shows are treated on channels. FOL had about 8 or 9 seasons right? We aren't talking about some one year wonder or something- if it was a one year wonder, I could understand how they treat it so crappy. With dvds and vhs, we wouldn't have to depend on any of these idiotic channels.

We must get one thing straight if we do petition for dvds and vhs. I guess we should count our blessings if we get even some episodes on dvd, but I want each season on one or two discs. I don't want the dvds to be like the Twilight Zone discs. With the TZ series, they put 4 or 5 episodes per disc and that would really add up sooner or later. They should do the dvds like they are doing All in the Family and Sanford and Son- put each season together.

We have such a strong fanbase on this board and I know if we really put our minds to it- we could do it. Maybe we should come up with several petitions. We can sign each petition and email them to Columbia House or some other strong video company.

Hell, I don't have a DVD player, but I'd by the DVD's just incase I ever get one. I really really wish they could do it cause I mean 9 seasons for a TV show is great. VHS would be just as good, but the way Colombia House has it now sucks cause they're just random eps, plus you can't fit whole seasons on VHS.

Unless they do a box set. Anybody ever heard of that Britcom 'Bean'? Bean only had about 12, maybe 13 episodes- I can't really remember. Anyway, one Christmas I saw this box set that had about 4 videos with about 4 episodes per video. CH could do that and sell it as a set.

Okay, here's another example. I've been doing a little research on www.half.com and I know for a fact that 'My Favorite Martian' had a box set. So far they've only released season 1 as a set. The box is 8 vhs tapes with 32 episodes total. MFM is kind of a rare show, it only lasted 3 seasons. The price tends to be kind of high since it's 8 tapes, but if we do get FOL on tapes and dvds and we do shop around- maybe we can all get it cheap.

Here's a link to the My Favorite Martian set. Whoever produces these MFM videos, should be at the top of our petition lists.

Yea, that'd work for the first 2 seasons since they only have 13 - 16 eps. But then the later seasons have more eps. Like season 5 had 26 I think. Still I think DVD would be best, but that might never happen.

This set has been released by Rhino, "My Favorite Martian" can be found on DVD, they've only release two disks, both are seprate, each disk contains four episodes, and the second disk will be released with the next four episodes. It's basically what they did with "I Love Lucy" they aren't released in Seasons like that were done with S&S and AIF. Which can be a bit expensive to collect each one. I would like to see "The Facts of Life" on DVD in season sets, so we don't have to go through the trouble of buying four episodes every time a disk is released.

What pisses me off, is that they do boxed video sets for CURRENT shows (Friends, Sex In The City) when instead, they should be doing for FOL and other old shows!! I dont get Hallmark, so Im not as wounded as you guys are, but I felt the same towards N@N and all of the shows they got rid of (seriously, its like they got rid of everything last year and started from scratch). Im hoping itll go to Lifetime. Maybe someone should write to them. Since the FOL is considered more of a "womens" show like Golden Girls and Designing Women, they might consider it.

Hallmark did, at least N@N kept the show

I remember reading that somewhere on the boards. I can't remember who posted it, but yeah I do remember reading it. When I emailed Hallmark this afternoon, I kind of tossed in that little permanent part. I can't remember the exact words I used, but it was something along the lines of your definition of permanent and my definition of permanent must be two different things.

First off, great ideas Jenny. I'd gladly sign any petition to get FOL on VHS/DVD (other than columbia house, of course).

Here are my scenarios on what happened with Hallmark

1) It was on loan from Nick at Nite / TV Land, and could only air a certain amount of episodes for a certain amount of time

2) It didn't do as well as Hallmark had hoped, so they pulled it.

3) Basically same as number 2, but they may have just put in on hiatus so we don't get sick of it, and so they can bring it back when they lose Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie.

4) I find it so strange that AFV is back on Hallmark. They must be losing that. Also, guys, My Three Sons and Hart to Hart are also gone from the lineup, so Hallmark must do what Bravo does, run shows for a certain amount of time, then give them a rest to air other programming, then bring programming back. Which is a somewhat good idea.

And, I too am sick of the Beverly Hillbillies. I mean, wtf do they get an hour, while Hogan's Heroes gets just a half hour. And don't even get me started on 4 HOURS of Perry Mason. They are already running that show to death, IMO.

I sent them an email if they were just taking off FOL temporarily and if there's a chance that it might come back and I tried to sound as nice as I can (Which is opposite of how I really feel) but hopefully I'll get an e-mail back from them, which probably will be full of lies, but I wanna see what they have to say. I mean the fact that it's leaving TV again isn't what I'm mad about because I lived without FOL for 2 years with no tapes or fandemonium to watch. I'm just mad at the fact that they said it was permanent and lied.

I know you fans are upset that FOL is leaving. I was just getting used to it, and beginning to tape the show from the start. It was a great experince for me, since I never really saw the show until Hallmark picked it up. Oh well. Earlier, someone said she taped all FOL episodes since Hallmark began airing it. Good thing, too. Classic Is Better, I know what you're doing. I did the same thing when my favorite shows, Happy Days, and Laverne & Shirley first came on TV Land. I taped all I could, and I pushed the right buttons. L&S was gone in late May, but I now have all episodes of HD and L&S, because I taped them when they first came. Hopefully, if FOL comes back, I'll do the same thing, and record all I can.

You're right, that's the only thing you can do, is tape all you can, when you can. I can't tell you how much I've tapped off TV Land in the past few months (Donna Reed, Hazel, Archie Bunker's Place, Dennis the Menace, etc.) Anything is better than nothing. I do regret not taping Laverne & Shirley; I was actually going to start taping it in March, I guess I should have, LOL. I just assumed it would be around for a while.

I have been recording all I can, but I didn't get to every episode, and along with the all of the skippings, I still have episodes to watch and see. It's a shame Hallmark will not show the series again, to recap some of the episodes they haven't aired. I have been recording a lot lately because of all the additions to TV Land with their KitSchen their other blocks. It's another thing, that TV Land will quit airing their Box sets and Sunday bests only to air Inside TV Land and TV Land Legends: The 60 Minute Interviews, which should be something new. But after all, I'm just looking foward to watching "The Facts of Life" while it still has a chance.

whats your definition of permanent? did u really expect to be 70 years old walking with your cane and turning on the tv to good old hallmark to catch FOL? nothing on television is permanent. and in a sense it WAS a permanent addition. permanent for 4 months. atleast you people got to SEE THE SHOW!

Okay, I tried to make a petition last night but my computer kept screwing up. Either the computer screwed up or the User I.D was already taken. I tried a combo of I.D's, but nothing worked. I finally got the computer to work and my I.D to work. I think they are updating the page now or something, so it might be an hour or so before they are done updating. I'll post the link here to my petition and I'll create another thread just for petitions and if anybody else comes up with petitions they can just post the link over there.

Maybe TJ or D or Jenny can make the thread a sticky and people will be bound to see the petition thread.

Here's my link, but I will post the link over in the petition thread too.

Damnit. I really hope it goes to Tv Land eventually.
I think it is just awful that Hallmark will be dumping "The Facts of Life". On average, a show usually lasts on a network from 1 to 2 years. Unfortunately, I guess that wasn't the case for FOL. :(
I hope in the future that "The Facts of Life" will not go to TV Land, but instead to Lifetime (because that channel is dedicated to women, so thus it would fit in perfectly on there). As you guys know it, "The Facts of Life" was the first 80's show to begin the 80's sitcoms age for Nick at Nite. If the show does go to TV Land, I just hope TV Land won't turn into another 80's network.

I don't think it really matters if it fits the networks image, just that they air the show, I hope it will come to TV Land or Lifetime or any other network that has a chance. It won't matter if TV Land would air it because there are many fans, that would like it to be on again. Also it wouldn't turn into an 80's network just because of one show, it might be the case for Nick-at-Nite but TV Land is much different, in the past they have aired many sitcoms from the 80's and they are still the network that plays some of the greatest classic tv around.

Well, I think it just won't work though. Nick at Nite has been really wanting to have a completely different image from TV Land.
They have achieved that desired image. But by TV Land adding "The Facts of Life" (a not-so-long-ago previous N@N show) I think will lessen Nick at Nite's image. Plus, TV Land is mainly dedicated to classics from the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Anyways, I hope Lifetime pick ups "The Facts of Life". That would be great. :)

Let's see, 80's shows on TVLand. Perfect Strangers, Square Pegs, The A-Team, Hillstreet Blues, St. Elsewhere, Archie Bunker's Place. Nothing bad happened to TVLand when they aired on there. Also Lifetime is getting other shows (The Nanny, Caroline in the City, Suddenly Susan, and Will and Grace) in the future so their sked seems pretty full.

"The Facts of Life" basically helped turn N@N into an 80's network in my opinion. If FOL has the power to that then it could possibly do it again.

Yea, and did it do the same to USA and Hallmark? Thought so. The day N@N went down the tubes was the days Cheers premered.

TV Land's schedule is full already and will continue to be full with the upcoming shows it will air: one drama, "Bewitched, "I Dream of Jeannie", and "Sanford & Son". Plus who knows what other shows they already have access to (i.e. Screen Gem Deal shows).
They also have shows that are kept in their vault and haven't aired for awhile such as "Chico and the Man", "Laverne & Shirley" among others.

Nope because USA and Hallmark are both dedicated to shows and movies while Nick at Nite and TV Land only play shows.
And "The Facts of Life" is a show.

Things are starting to suck now. No DS, no FOL. Things won't be the same. (Sighs)
