Yeah, on The Dick Van Dyke Show, it was all presented very innocently. Seems like if they did the joke today, they would inject more malice and bitterness into the story somewhere.

It just struck me a la the "how dark will Megan Markle's babies' skin be" that it might be a bit of a faux pas nowadays to air that kind of story ...... but what do I know?
