Would you consider yourself a geek, the ones who don't get invited to parties, popular, the ones who get voted prom king/queen, or in between, a little bit of both and why????????

Hollow 10-13-2002, 12:33 PM Im purty popular Juss Like Jo Po 10-13-2002, 12:35 PM I deff wouldnt consider myself a geek at all...actually i am pretty popular...but im not the prom queen either..so i guess i am in between...but i do get invited to all the parties..so i guess i lean more to the popular side Mr. Shy Guy 10-13-2002, 12:45 PM Well at my school, there really aren't any geeks. There are the popular people, the uhhh... normal people, and the goth people. I'm between the popular people and the normal people. consentida 10-13-2002, 12:48 PM i'm in between... Beruche 10-13-2002, 12:53 PM Well I'm not a geek or popular but I'm not really in between. I just sort of stay by myself. lol erm. Kay Scarpetta 10-13-2002, 12:54 PM I'm just.... myself. No sadly, I'm not popular. No, I'm not a geek. No, I'm not even in-between. I'm myself. Will and Grace Fanatic 10-13-2002, 01:14 PM I guess I'm between. I was never popular but I'm not a geek either. vienna waits 10-13-2002, 01:34 PM I dont belong to any of those labels... or any label at all. And I'd sure hope theres a BIG gap between geek and popular because few people fall into those categories I think... especially with 2100 people at your school. Titania 10-13-2002, 01:49 PM I'd say somewhere in between. I have quite a few friends and yes I was voted in the homecoming court- but I"ve never considered myself "popular" because I hate stereotyping people like that. britt britt 10-13-2002, 02:20 PM well, i guess im in between. im friends with some of the "popular" people but i dont really hang around with them all the time, im just myself. There's two kinds of popular people in my school the snotty idiot, think there so big people! and the nice ones, im with the nice ones.lol:D Mossopp 10-13-2002, 02:42 PM I certainly wasn't popular at school but I wouldn't have classed myself as a "geek" either. To me, geeks are kids who are really good in school and take part in a lot of school activities. I wasn't stupid by any means but I always tried to get through school by doing the absolutely minimum. I think the majority of people I was at school with just thought I was a bit of a freak. I'm not a nice wee 'girly' girl and I think that annoyed some people. ks 10-13-2002, 03:13 PM I'm a popular geek:D Actually, I'm neither. I'm popular by no means, but I'm not a geek either. I'm just...me! ks RainMan 10-13-2002, 03:21 PM I don't know If I am popular or not.............. The Druggie Mexicans who wear their pants down to their knees showing their PRECIOUS boxer shorts (GOD I CAN'T STAND THAT! My brother does that too ) hate me and I hate them. The Popular Kids (Like my cousin) talk to me and they enjoy it maybe. The homecoming queen likes me but not like me like me. The kids that have broken families and welch off everyone else seem to like to talk to me. The farm/mechanic kids talk to me because my dad's a mechanic and they like him. So I guess they like me I don't know. The teachers like me because I'm not violent. So I guess I would say I'm "In Between" unless you think something else. Nate JoJoJoJoJoJoJoJoJo 10-13-2002, 03:22 PM I don't actually belong to a certain "clique" i have friends from all different gropus... like someone said earlier, i'm just Amanda.. i just go w/ the flow Rockapella722 10-13-2002, 03:26 PM None of those. I'm kinda like an "elective outcast." I choose to be left alone by people who are not in my group. I talk to and goof around with some of the "preps" and most of the "losers"... so I'd consider myself in the middle area... kinda. consentida 10-13-2002, 03:28 PM Originally posted by RainMan The Druggie Mexicans are u tryin' to say that all Mexicans are druggies? i mean, you could use a less offensive term.... Notorious 10-13-2002, 03:35 PM Let's See...I have all types of friends..... There are quite a few popular people that like me, and think I'm funny (trust me, some popular people hate me)-- Umm, I also have friends that hate the popular people, and don't wanna be friends w/ them either. I guess they're the in-between friends?-- I don't talk to any geeks, there aren't many at my school. 3 towns, one school (only about 6 or 700). Our freshman class actually has the 1 (only one) geek, with no friends. I feel a bit sorry for the kid... Notorious 10-13-2002, 03:37 PM Oh yeah! -- There are this group of friends I have that are heavy on the drugs (not at school). They're pretty cool, and we have fun. (we're going egging the 30th!! rock on!). They're all 'We need to get you high', screw that! Kristina 10-13-2002, 03:49 PM I don't care for labels, but I'm not "popular" or a "geek" I'm me, I'm no better or worse than anyone else. I don't have that many friends at school only 2 people who I could actually say are my friends, but alot of people talk to me but I'm not popular... The popular sluts make fun of me and the way I dress cause I don't dress like a tramp and share their teenybopper interests I'm not good enough for them, thats how they act. Georgia's on my Mind 10-13-2002, 03:54 PM I'm neither popular nor a geek....My school is so screwed up....I am really an outcast of my class....there are the geeks who hate me because they think Im popular, The popular prep's who think Im not as good as them, and so blase.... Then we have the thugs/druggies ect....who are just so out of it who knows.... then there are the in between people who are so snobby even though there not popular it's rediculous....yeah I hate my school....I wish I had more normal friends ugh ok Im done.... consentida 10-13-2002, 03:58 PM Originally posted by Notorious No, he was saying there is a group of druggy mexicans. Faith 10-13-2002, 05:17 PM I am neither popular or a geek. And I wouldn't consider me in between. I am just me, the unique, special and sometimes very strange Jamie, there is no way I could put a label on that. But seriously I am not popular because I choose not to be. I would much rather be myself and have a few friends than to be something I'm not and have 20 or 30 people just pretending to be my friend. ABlairican Pie 10-13-2002, 05:55 PM I'm a very popular geek at work. ~LadyJess~ 10-13-2002, 06:23 PM I'm in between. I'm not even close to being popular but I'm far from being a geek. I hang out with my own group of friends and some are more popular than others but no one is a geek. TJL 10-13-2002, 06:25 PM Let's see, I can spend hours picking apart Star Trek episodes, arguing with my friend about Annakin Skywalker's motivation in Episode 2, and memorizing every bit of trivia I can from the Internet Movie Database. I was the most popular guy in my High School. ;) RainMan 10-13-2002, 06:49 PM My brother says he's VERY popular: YEAH RIGHT! My Definitionn of Popular: Friends with all the preppies and football players, farmer kids, mechanic kids, and teachers (druggies do not apply) But my brother hangs out with all mexicans (no offense), white trash, druggies, and sluts. He smokes He drinks He has sex every chance he gets He gets poor grades in school All he ever watches is Porno He does drugs Yet he thinks he is sooooooooooooooooo popular. I would say that he is one of the worst druggies in school. And I actually wish he was not my brother because all the teachers and preppies tell me he's a trouble maker and he's disruptive in class. Wouldn't you agree with me? It makes me feel unique Jinny Girl 10-13-2002, 08:29 PM I'm that girl who dresses weird and wears alot of eyeliner and listens to heavy metal, that everyone thinks is cool because she is a non-conformist. I'm the one everyone thinks is funny because I can insult pop music non stop for an hour and come up with 1,000 reasons why britney should die. I'm the one everyone gets angry with because I am really opinionated. I'm the one who's bigger than everyone, and everyone knows I could probably beat them up, but i don't. I'm the one that likes to say random things like "Cheese is pretty." I'm the one who got yelled at by my peers for admitting I drink, and actually thought them caring was funny. You know. Your school probably has a few of them. Like... I'm well liked by my peers, and everyone knows me, but I'm not by any means popular. I have my friends. Everyone else liking my socks or my spikey bracelets is just a fringe benifit. I hate it though. I DO NOT WANT POPULARITY! Swimfan85 10-13-2002, 09:31 PM ive got friends...I dunno how to respond to this question, I guess in between Crimson and Clover 10-13-2002, 09:44 PM im not a geek i have friends but im not that popular. im just myself. TibbyTibby2 10-13-2002, 11:53 PM im not a geek. Im popular as in I have a lot of friends but im not ike popular in school... you know what i mean? GoldenGuy 10-14-2002, 12:10 AM I'm VERY VERY popular. I was inches away from being in the homecoming court. Not even close to Geek. ~Teddybear~ 10-14-2002, 10:09 AM Well, I never really thought I was that popular until I won homecoming queen! But to be honest, it kinda sucks. It changed me from a good girl concerned about her education, to a bad girl concerned about boys. So take my advice people, stick with ur real friends. Because I really don't know who mines are... JoPol_wannabe 10-14-2002, 11:58 AM Well in highschool I was kind of inbetween for a while I was really popular then that went down but everyone was invited to parties I just decided not to go because they drink alot there and there were some boys that if you didn't drink or if they know you didn't like to drink they would try and pour beer down your throwts and I didn't want that to happen so I stayed away from that. Also some people in my class thought I was pretty cool and others thought I was geeky so I'd say I was an inbetween but in college (well at my college) there really isn't a popular group or a geeky group you kind of make your own group and you can call yourself popular but people don't really care much about that anymore. AllIWantIsYourClutch 10-14-2002, 02:19 PM I think I'm just kinda....there. Sitcomwriter 10-14-2002, 02:33 PM Certainly In-Between. Don't really fit into any categories at school. Everybody says Punk but I don't think so. I don't know. ¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 10-15-2002, 11:50 PM I was never popular...but I didnt hang out with the "losers" either. As each year went on, I started making more *popular* friends, but never hung out with them after school..just in the halls and in class. It was pretty much just me and my best friend. We didnt even hang out with our other friends as much b|C they bugged us sometimes lol. Ags2000 10-16-2002, 12:17 AM I wasn't EXACTLY popular in high school, but I was well known from being in Student Council. But frankly I could care less about being popular, I moved every few years anyway. And I'd never get to be named homecoming or prom king -- I'm not a prep, so I'm in the minority. I wouldn't consider myself a dork or a geek, but I am definitely a freak. I have friends, but 9 out of 10 times you'll see me standing all alone lol...I'm not one to follow the crowd. GoldenGuy 10-21-2002, 05:54 PM I'm the total opposite. I ALWAYS follow the crowd. And i never go off by myself. Of course I do enjoy my alone time. But that's only when no one else is around. I USED (thank god) to be one of those queerdo popluar "pretty" chicks, that every1 truly hates but only pretends to adore, b/c of that silent rule that they are "it". (I dunno how that came about. I don't care or WANT to remember either.....those were my middle school days) Then I moved, said "**** conformity", hung out with the losers, and let me tell you, the so-called losers are some of the coolest ppl you'll ever meet! I swear, they're awesome. And the only reason they became "losers" is because they did something cool....well something cool in my world....But all those ppl were older than me, and graduated....So I only hang out with ppl out of school. I hate every1 IN school...so I don't talk to anyone. haha AllIWantIsYourClutch 10-22-2002, 07:59 PM It's funny....all of the now "popular" people used to be my best friends in elementary school.... Dude111 10-03-2022, 09:36 PM I dont give a rats tail what anyone thinks about me but they probably think im a geek :D GentlemanJim 10-03-2022, 11:22 PM I was kind of a freak, because I had friends from both sides. And each group kinda wondered what my attraction was to the other. It was sort of a "yeah, we hang out with you, but what about those others you call friends?" Yong Fang 10-19-2022, 12:03 PM I entered my high school in the ninth grade, moving from the city to the suburbs. I dont really know about being "popular" but I wasnt. After the tenth grade I sort of was on outlier to one "cliche". My best friend I met in the tenth grade. He made friendships with a few other kids and we did our thing. I was also friends with a boy in my neighborhood until college (he went to my college for a year and left to go to the college in our city) But we had different fiends. Some of his friends I still see on Facebook but for wahtever reason, my "best friend" does not want to know me anymore which is fine by me. In the early 1980's there were several "cliques". One was the "jocks/facemen" who played sports and the most popular girl, but most other were males.. One was the "freaks" who were the heavy metal kids. I guess you could say "goths" but that was years before that. Another group was the "rednecks". This was the South and these kids wore flannel and blue jeans and were deer hunters in the winter (and some of them helped the so called "redneck" principal builld his deer stand, and this is me loving our princpal who doed about 15 years ago, and all of the assistant principals are now dead). This was girls and boys but mostly male. I was a "geek", (and called this) which was a slur. I did my own thing and school was like work. But I never anything in my high school. I was not a best student, I wasnt musical, I wasnt athletic. I was not in any school clubs. I went to school and came home. So it prevented me to know many people in my vast class. Even my father got mad at me for not being more involved in school. I just didnt care that much and again, girls I dated wasnt from my school, my school was cliquish and even not, what did I expect? I am 55 and one thing I still feel that hurts and saddens me is that I never went to my prom. I even picked out an outfit to wear. Prom was basically the 11th and 12th grade and especially in the 12th grade I asked many girls for a date and everyone of them refused me, even girls new to the school. I never went although girls from all four grades who dated upperclassmen could go. It still feels I lost something I can never get back. I was "unpopular". I wasnt hated perse but I never was into anything in my school. One girl was a year younger than me that was kinda-sorta was interested but her father was Baptist/Religious who wouldnt let me go with her daughter, even though the girl in school sort of liked me and that was it. Looking back, she was sort of a goofball. I was also. It just never happened and all the girls I dated (and not many) came from other schools. I had to do summer school for an English class I failed (the teacher I liked as a person but her class was ridiculously hard) and dated a pretty girl who took the clas so she can go to the 12th grade but her family went to Arizona. I went in a date from her which went well and never saw her again. I will say, even Jeffrey Dahmer went to his prom. I have never been to a reunion. 10 years I probably didnt hear about and I was on drugs and anything after 20 years I was overseas. There were 500 kids who graduated in my class and I knew 10 percent of them (many I just never had classes with including Chris Parnell from Saturday Night Live). I miss my high school years and wish I could go back and be more involved but probbaly for nothing. High School is a passage of life. GentlemanJim 10-19-2022, 01:40 PM I never went to the prom. Back in my day the prom was considered to be for the squares and socially obsessed....so I just quietly let it pass. And then years later the alumni association kept sending announcements to my moms house, looking for donations or hyping an upcoming reunion. And my mom would always forward these to me, trying to use them as bait to get me to come home to visit. And I grew tired of the ploy. So, one time 30 years ago I just wrote "Deceased" on their envelope, and return mailed it to them. And that put a stop to it. That high school has a hardcover book that they publish every year, listing all alumni, where they live, what they are doing, who they married, etc. And my name just has an asterisk. 50th reunion coming up in a couple years, thinking about attending, just for kicks. Caroline13 10-19-2022, 02:03 PM I was a social butterfly and a dancer and went to 3 proms...so I consider myself a social attractive gal, not gorgeous but very acceptable and likable.. |
