What happened to Nick? How did he die and in what episode?

If memory serves me right ( it's been a while since I watched season 6) . I know he dies in a car accident, but it wasn't in any specific episode. Just mentioned in the beginning of season 7 . I am pretty sure of this. ;)

I was wondering about that because I never actually saw an episode where he had died. I only saw an episode that Ann said that he had died. But what I don't get is why Alex went to live with Ann if his mom was still alive, why didn't he go stay with his own mom? That part didn't make any sense to me, if his mother was still living, he should have went to live with his mom.

Go watch S7E1 Alex Moves In. Alex's mom is in it and an explanation is given. You may not like it of course, but at least you get one.

He's still alive in the last episode of season 6, where David comes back and spars with Nick over Ann.
