The 2000s were not the best decade for the World Series by any mean, but it had its share of high points.

While most four-game World Series are disappointing in terms of the competition, an exception was made for the 2005 World Series. The tightest World Series by game leverage featured Paul Konerko's grand slam and Scott Podsednik's walk-off home run in game 2, the longest game in World Series history in game 3 topped off with Jeff Blum's home run, and a 1-0 game in game 4 with Jermaine Dye's single to give the White Sox their only World Series since 1917.
