Should "old threads" be limited as to how many can be brought back at a time?

When strings of "old threads" are brought back up, it puts "NEW THREADS" way downed the page and can be missed by others.

I think old threads (10-20 years old) should stay dead.

Why does some people act as it is their solely duty to post on everything that gets posted, even when they have NOTHING to CONTRIBUTE to the thread or posts?

I voted yes! A few old threads rehashed now and than if it's an interesting topic . Once in a while , not all the time . But 20 year old threads flooding the boards all the time, No !!

Keep it to 5 threads and NOT foolish dumb topics, relevant and informative and those that benefit with NEW info added.......

As I see it as a very new member of SO, this forum is OLD and people have got to be bored and tired of the SOS.....so many in the SO world are pushing up their daiseys and all the new celebes. I have no interest....

That's subjective. Who determines what counts as "interesting"?

Let's split the topic, polls and threads. Polls are are snapshot taken at a point in time, if a poll is more than a few months old, rather than repost it just start from scratch. There's a poll active right now concerning sodas, which is better, 7-Up, Sprite or Squirt. The poll start more than 20 years ago, 7-Up used a different formula at the time, Squirt does not belong in the same category (it's a grapefruit flavored drink meant to compete with Fresca), so just do a new poll, replace Squirt with Starry and start from scratch.

Threads are different story, my suggestion would be to take a look at the responses, if there is something new to add, or the topic in your opinion has some new relevancy state what that is and let's get it going again.

I have spoken to him about this in the past. I don't have a problem in general with people bumping up older threads but doing 15-20 on the main Chit Chat base is way too many. It would be better if he did 5 or so on the main Chit Chat base, 5 on Music, 5 on Movies and 5 on Sports to spread them out. He's better at replying to interesting topics that are proven winners with replies instead of creating his own threads.

The main Chit Chat base has enough active threads without bumping up so many at once. I don't think many people are going back to the second or third page to view them.

He also needs to use better judgment with what threads he's bumping up. He shouldn't be bumping up any political/controversial threads which are going to be closed.

It was a completely different world in the pre-social media days. Message boards were really all there was for people of common interests to gather.

Younger people today are all on TikTok and not really on forums like these. They are more visually stimulated and a board like this would not appeal to them.

Nowadays, SO has a much older membership with majority of active posters over 40. I know there are a few in their 20s-30s, but it’s not the majority.

I don't think anything productive is coming out of this thread, which in some form or another has been ongoing for years. There is no rule against bumping threads. There is already a rough limit per day.
