Like say Annie Potts (with Young Sheldon and the recent Ghostbusters sequels) or Jean Smart (https://www.reddit.com/r/television/comments/nf72co/the_rererebirth_of_jean_smart_with_mare_of/) (with Hacks, Fargo, and Mare of Easttown (https://www.forbes.com/profile/jean-smart/))? I hope that this doesn't come across as a strawman argument, but I kind of thought about this after seeing Jean Smart (https://www.huffpost.com/entry/jean-smart-hacks-success-72_n_66475682e4b0fad036efcf06) guest host the Season 50 premiere of Saturday Night Live. Delta Burke (https://www.thelist.com/462951/what-delta-burke-has-been-up-to/) was actually the first Designing Women (https://www.datalounge.com/thread/29798805-tell-me-the-story-of-the-decline-of-designing-women-) cast member to guest host (https://www.thewickerbreaker.com/season-16/snl-s16e19-delta-burke) SNL, which she (https://www.nickiswift.com/429995/whatever-happened-to-delta-burke/) did back in 1991 (https://www.onesnladay.com/2019/07/08/may-11-1991-delta-burke-chris-isaak-and-silvertone-s16-e19/).

I think she burned a lot of bridges and stepped on a lot of toes to prove how much better she was than everyone else. Perhaps I'm being harsh, but I recall that she was unbearable to work with. I think a lot of your success is dependent on your ability to do your job. Lots of people gripe about the smallest nonsequential things like an olive in your salad. I also understand that DB was struggling with meth addiction.

The last mainstream attempt I remember (because I was anxious to see if it would work) was her playing the First Lady on the NBC sitcom DAG from 2000-2001. Years later I realized they were trying to rekindle the Anthony/Suzanne dynamic but it just fell....FLAT. David Alan Grier wasn't particularly funny and Delta's character was extremely limited to just being in her wing with her purse dog. It was a trainwreck and I'm sure she never thinks of it. If I were her I wouldn't either....
