This is really just for Friends fans (and there are alot of you) but anybody who has ever watched it can vote. I am not a rabid Friends fan but its good enough to earn some attention so I ask this. There is some debate on if it should come back after this season. Two questions. Should they come back, and if so, if one character should leave which one is the show most able to do without?

Let me explain, I've gotten flak for posting negative remarks about Friends.

That is because I think it hasn't been strong the last couple years.

Let me say this:

I like Friends.
I've seen every episode of Friends and I do watch it in syndication too, so this is no Friends bashing.

I'm just disappointed (so I voice my opinion) and I think it is time it ended. I mean really, with Monica and Chandler married and Rachel having a baby with Ross and all, it is kinda off the premise of 20 something year olds looking for their niche in life.
I know shows evolve but really what is left for this group together? Marriage and parenthood. Not the same show.

I'm all for a Joey spin-off though.

Like I said, I am not a HUGE friends fan but I think if you start a thread question you should answer it so:

No don't come back (its over already)
Pheobe

I think the ratings are strong enough and Friends has a huge fan base, so I think another season wouldn't hurt. I'd like to see a final season dealing with marriage, parenthood, etc. However, I do agree that the show's premise has changed dramatically, and they can only go so far with it.
As far canning one of the characters, I can't say. I think each character contributes their own unique dynamic to the show. The ensemble cast is perfect the way it is. :)

No-Yes I know it's my #2 show but the show has gotten old.The new episodes suck.I was able to tolerate the past 2 or 3 seasons but now the film they use to tape the show is too dark and they are basing too much of the show in Ross' apartment.

Monica-Does she really serve any purpose? She never did except to be the "mother" of the group and Ross' sister.

This show is done. It shouldn't continue.

One character this show could do with out is that annoying dork Ross. He is irritating. He is never funny.

The 9th Season has been good so far, so if they can keep this up, I say go for it, but that is kinda unlikely, so in the end... it would probably be best if they stopped after this season.

As for the character to be booted off... I say Joey or Ross.

I actually think the show has had a strong last three seasons. So if they can keep it up I would say yes for coming back. I like all the characters but I'm not going to cop out. If I could do without one of them it would be--Ross. When the show first started I thought maybe Joey, but to my astonishment--the lovable mug has grown on me and I now find him the most appealing character of them all.

I do think the show should end after this season.

If they had to loose someone, I think they could get along best without Monica.

Personally, I think Friends should have called it quits 6 or 7 years ago. I found the show watchable the first year, but I lost total interest after that. I think Friends is very over-rated.

Chandler is the only character I really like. The rest can all leave.

I'm mixed yes and no.

Yes, because so far (except for the premiere), season 9 is already showing out to be the best season since the first 3-4 seasons. But no, because it's better to go out on top, and they already have some 200 episodes in the can out there that us Friends fans will be watching for the rest of time

Friends is my second favorite show in current prime-time (Buffy is #1 and can't be touched IMO, and there are some HBO-Showtime shows as well that I like just as much), but 9 years is more than enough, especially since they've been doing the Ross/Rachel love/hate thing ever since they first got together in season 2.

It's a very tough call in my opinion. To be honest, I never once watched "Friends" until around June when (on a whim) I decided to purchase the season 1 DVD set. Mind you, since then, I've been hooked. I never miss an episode in syndication, nor the new episodes.

I find between the early episodes, and the ones seen today, some of the cast members aren't quite the same. I mean, in the early seasons, Monica was conservative as anyone could get, and watching the first couple of seasons, I found her to be the least entertaining member of the ensemble cast. Now, looking at today's episodes, she seems a lot more.......ditzy I guess you could say. It's like she's a totally different character. As for Phoebe, she has changed as well. I used to find her hilarious, but now, for some reason, I find her totally unappealing. She actually reminds me of an acquaintance I couldn't stand. Even Joey seems a lot more toned down than in earlier seasons, as if Matt LeBlanc isn't even trying anymore. Maybe it's just me, I don't know.

As far as bringing the show back for a 10th season is concerned, I honestly don't think it would be wise. As someone stated earlier in this thread, the show has pulled a complete turnaround. It's not the same as it once was, and I think pushing it for another season would just add chaos to confusion. I mean, if (and when) "Friends" does end, we (the loyal viewers) would like to remember it in a good way, as a show that ended strongly, while the ratings were still high......sort of like "Cheers" which was at the top of its game at the end.

All I know is if they continue past this season, people down the road will look at "Friends" as a show that was flying high, then eventually burned to the ground.
