View Full Version : Best sitcoms of their eras
Ericguy 10-10-2002, 09:56 AM Hers is the question. Take 2 sitcoms from each decade 50' 60' 70' 80' 90's.....you can substitute any decade and include 2000 if you want even though we are only two years into it but try not to. That will make 10 shows in all, that is your list of the top ten sitcoms ever...have fun trying to pick. Don't let critics guide you, just your funny bone. I will post mine in a bit...I have to think about it for awhile.
callmetootie 10-10-2002, 10:22 AM 1950's: I Love Lucy and The Honeymooners
1960's: Bewitched and The Lucy Show
1970's: Three's Company and All In The Family
1980's: The Facts Of Life and Cheers
1990's: Roseanne and Hearts Afire
2000's: The Geena Davis Show and Bette
Those are not all neccesarily my favorite shows of the eras, but what I thought were the most important shows, not even caring about how long they ran. If Checking In was a ground-breaking sitcom and still only ran 4 episodes, I would've chose that. I know Hearts Afire was not groundbreaking but was the most underrated sitcom of the era. As for GDS and Bette, they were excellent, hilarious, provocotive series that never got themselves an audience.
Plasma 10-10-2002, 11:06 AM 50s- Leave It to Beaver, I Love Lucy
60s- Bewitched, Get Smart

Ericguy 10-10-2002, 01:19 PM Ok this is harder than I thought. To pick just two from each decade is difficult because some had so many, like the 70's which I think FAR and away was the best in history and some were a little weak. So I will modify the criteria just a bit. If a show started in one decade and ended in another, like MASH, you can pick it as either decade. I think if I picked just a top ten, 7 would come from the 70's but each decade is harder, therefore, more fun....here goes
50's
