In 1998 Ad Council launched the Be Cool About Fire Safety PSA commercials and the debut commercial featured a wisecracking smoke detector named Seymour who was a mascot. The debut commercial taught kids on the proper use of a smoke detector and features two kids learning a lesson from Seymour about what to do when a smoke detector goes off and is full of humor. Interestingly providing the voice of Seymour Smoke Detector is the late comedian Gilbert Gottfried and I didn't know Gilbert did voices for PSA commercials.
