He was a pioneer in easy listening music with Brazillian hits like So Many Stars and became best known for the wonderful cover of The Beatles classic Fool On The Hill and even made a comeback in the 80's in 1982 with the popular power ballad Never Gonna Let You Go which was also used in Mr. Turkey commercials in the 90's. Sergio Mendes passed away today at age 83 and leaves behind an incredible legacy of unique sounding music. I first became interested in Sergio Mendes when I heard one of his songs in Austin Powers and I didn't know the song Never Gonna Let You Go was used in the Mr. Turkey commercials and So Many Stars was covered wonderfully by Natalie Cole. It's amazing how talented Mr. Mendes was and he will be missed by fans
