I thought that would get your attention... Relax, Carter fans.

No, Noah isn't leaving the show immediatly, but an article I saw online (The Entertainment Weekly site, I think) says he may not renew his contract when it expires at the end of next season.

My question is, do you think Carter's departure should bring the series to an end? Carter is one of the only original lead charaters still on the show, and I don't think the ones left could carry the show without him.
Plus, I really don't see the show staying on another three or four years; don't get me wrong, I think the show is still doing great, but all good things must come to and end sooner or later...

I heard the show will end after the 10th season, but with NBC, you never know.

Well guess Maura's contract is expired at the end of this season too, and they weren't sure if they were signing her back on...but I don't know. They probably will...but we wont' know till then, will we? I mean, I guess losing Mark was a really big blow, at least for me the show isn't the same without him...:(

It's not the same without Doug, Carol, Lucy, Dave Malucci, Mark, Peter,.... everyone. All the cast is gone. I miss the good old days :(

NBC's contract with ER ends at the end of the 10th season...I have no idea if it's going to end. Maura had no idea in her AOL interview. I guess no one really does, your guess is as good as mine.

Maura's contract is up this season...I've heard way too many rumors that she's leaving, and I seriously doubt that she is. She seems really content with ER, she has alot of fun. I'm going to ask her the next time that I talk to her, just to clear it up.

I read an article on Noah that was in InStyle last month...I think he's getting tired of ER (I mean, come on, he's been on the show for 9 years). He said she just wants to sort of, "disappear" when ER's over...or after his 10th season. I can't blame him, but I don't think ER should go on without him, either.

Just my 2 cents...blah.

You folks need to open your mind to new people and players.

Sure I think ER would be hurt if Noah left, and even more so if him and Maura left, and even more if them and Chen left (has this ever actually been confirmed?), but I personally feel that ER is the type of show that could potentially go on forever with a revolving-door cast, just like Law and Order.

Law and Order has gone through many cast changes, but that doesn't mean it is any less good. Sure, people will have their own favorite casts, but personally I think the writing on a series is far and away more important than the cast any day. As long as the writing remains compelling, I can see ER lasing indefintely.

And, as long as the writing remains compelling, I will continue to watch, regardless of the cast. (though I won't lie that I would love to see them stick with the current cast for awhile!)

I rented "Enough" last weekend--Jennifer Lopez fights her abusive husband---when who should I see but Noah Wiley playing a rat who helps the husband. He's good at playing a bad guy.

I haven't seen Enough yet - it does look like a good movie - did you guys know that Noah is in White Oleander? I don't know exactly who he plays in the movie...but I want to go see that movie too...so it's a bonus to have Noah  in it! ;)

Has anyoene even begun to think of what will replace it, if, it indeed leaves after the 10th season? I mean, think about it, NBC Thursdays at 10:00pm has had such a great revolving door of dramas (L.A. Law, ER, just to name two) I wonder how NBC will fill the void. I mean, yeah, I hope it goes on forever, but it gives us something to think about, LOL.

I think NBC might bring in a new show, like another Law & Order show or a new medical show.
