Hi all, Im reading Freddies book now, won it in an auction...all I can say is that poor man!!! I fully realize now how sick he really was!! It breaks your heart to read something so sad and lost. His mother and he were really close and I now know why!! There were plenty of people worried about him! Let me know if anyone wants passages posted...

Hey Flan, can you post the part that lists all the drugs he was taking? I think people should realize how reckless the doctors were in prescribing this stuff. Also, if there is anything about what drugs were in his system at autopsy -- that too would be interesting to know....Thanks

Flannelpj's (By the way I love that name)! I don't have the book so tell me a couple of things. Why did you say he was so sick? That his own Mom said it.

Okay guys, firstly the only thing he was taking was Quaaludes and maybe valium, maybe. One statement in the book, he practically lived on just the pills the last two months of his life... His mother kept begging him to come home so she could take care of him.. he never wanted too... He was always nervous, always in a hurry... high-strung all the time... he always told his mother he was lonley, I am lonely he says.. He was very spiritual wrote journals ... There was no talk of an autopsy in the book, Mary tried to get to the hotel in time but could not... enough for now..let me know if you would like to read more...

Hey flannelpjs - I have been trying for 3 months to get the book your taking about. I tried E-bay, Bibliofind, Bookfinder, American Book Exchange and locally and cannot find it. It was written by Mary Preutzel (Freddie's mother) is that right?
What is the title of the book? Did you say you got yours from an auction? Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks for your help!

Finish reading the book. I read it many years ago and I remember a section where the mother listed a whole bunch of drugs he was prescribed. And he was prescribed lots of them, in large doses

Hey guys, I am enoying the book very much... Yall will never guess what?? On the day Freddie was born, June 22, 1954 there were 16 babies born that day get this he was the only boy how about that!!! At the same hospital!! on the same day!! He really liked lemonade and she also said he was never broke he always had a dollar if he didnt he soon would have one in his pocket!

Hi catcopy 18, I won my copy on Ebay.. I tried several areas on the net. Just like you did.. Check ebay every day. I know now there is the video of his life and the book together on auction. Keep trying and if you bid try to watch your auction finish. They are sometimes hard to get. There is at least one or maybe two on auction at a time Good Luck

One more thing, he was not seeing a psychiatrist, he was seeing a hypnotherapist that Kathy was seeing. Get real!!! Also, she said she was afraid to take the drugs away from him because he was bigger and stronger than she was..How nice!!!!

That movie was based on the Playboy article and it really showed Freddie in a negative way....I got it from ebay and I have watched it several times and it really hurts to see him shown that way..

I asked in BOOKS A MILLION tonite (actually last nite by now) if they had any books iwth him in it. Nothing on him & none on his son either. Weird, considering how famous he was you'd think there'd be some sort of mention in some books. I'd love to check out his mom's biography from the library.
