NBC Celebrates 'Elvis'
Tue, Oct 8, 2002 06:24 PM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Not even death can stop Elvis.

Presley's most recent album debuted at No. 1 in 18 territories around the world, just after the 25th anniversary of his death. NBC and RCA are celebrating his lasting popularity with "Elvis Lives," a collection of stories, observations and opinions about Presley’s importance.

The hour-long special will honor his enduring legacy with commentary and performances by today’s top musical acts, including Bono, Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, No Doubt, Dave Matthews and Britney Spears. Other celebrities expected to make an appearance on the program are Dennis Hopper ("24"), Denis Leary ("The Job") and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler.

"NBC hit gold with Presley’s 1968 ‘Comeback Special’ and our recent broadcast of ‘Loving You’ on the anniversary of his passing," says Jeff Gaspin, EVP of Alternative Series, Longform and Program Strategy for NBC. "We look forward to celebrating his legacy with a new generation of fans who are now discovering his music."

"We are thrilled to join forces with NBC to make Elvis’ incredible legacy come alive for TV viewers and for the music fans who have made ‘Elvis 30 No. 1 Hits’ a No. 1 album," says Bob Jamieson, chairman of RCA Music Group. "The caliber of the artists and celebrities who have signed on to this project speaks volumes about Elvis’ tremendous influence."

"Elvis Lives" is expected to air in late November or December on NBC.

Britney Spears???!! I hope someone is joking. I can't imagine Brit doing an Elvis song if she is one that is performing. Ugh, save time and just show some of Elvis' old performances.

"Before Elvis there was nothing." - John Lennon Still to this day when Paul McCartney when asked who's his favourite singer or most influence him, he always answers without hesitation: Elvis.

He goes as far to say that if it wasn't for Elvis there would be no Beatles and it doesn't get any bigger than that.

I saw Elvis in Dallas just last month. He told me he just bought a ranch just outside of El Paso and he was in town shoe shopping.

I heard the other night on the news that he really is alive and that they were getting DNA evidence, but I din't get to see the follow-up story to see if it was true! Must not have been or I'd think that it would've been BIG news.

Yeah, I have a homepage saved in my favorites about that. This Doctor Henton dude claims that he's treating Elvis. Except he isn't going by the Elvis name anymore. He's going by the name Jesse Presley. All you Elvis fans know that was Elvis' twin that died at birth.

Here's the homepage.

http://www.thetruthaboutelvisjesse.com/index.asp?cat=100554
Crap, they must be redoing the site because I can't see anything on there. Oh yeah, this Doctor even has a book out. Link to the book: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1561676764/qid=1038545796/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-8223819-3921605?v=glance&s=books
I just don't believe it though. I think either this Henton fellow is crazy or maybe this Jesse guy is roping the doctor in. Something just smells fishy. I haven't been to that site in awhile, so I don't know if they've added more pictures or what. However, the pics on this website don't prove one damn thing. The doctor could've had a gold tooth in his mouth and he had it pulled and he could claim it was E's tooth.

More evidence. Look at these two pics. Wait, let me find and I'll post them if I can. If I can't I'll find a link to get them from another mb.

Who watched it? That was the biggest disappointment for me! I was anticipating it all week... and it sucked! They had all these celebs ramble on and on.. and hardly any performances. I was under the impression it would be more of a CONCERT. Ugh.

Okay, here's the link for the pictures. http://www.talk.elviscrawler.de/viewtopic.php?t=51

The middle picture is supposed to be Elvis in like 2000 or something. Look at the pic on the right hand side, with the right computer equipment you can do that middle pic. That whole thread is a pretty interesting.

What the hell? Let's toss the whole bag of tricks into the circle. I've heard rumors about a wax corpse in the coffin. If you've seen pics of E in his coffin- that pic is kind of weird. He looks too damn young in that coffin pic. What about the whole middle name issue? You tellin' me all that dough that Elvis Presley Enterprise rakes in, that they can't change E's tomb? Elvis spells his middle name Aron. Note on the tomb that it is Aaron. Something fishy about that too. If E is alive, he is a grand magician. Wouldn't that be freaky. Hey yall, I ain't dead after all. Freaky.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed too. The mini performances that they showed (Cher, Dixie Chicks, Mary J. Blige, Anastacia etc.) all came from that Divas Live: Las Vegas thing. Ugh, I can't believe they had Carson Daily on the show. He annoys me. He is a true poser. You people go on about Avril or GC being posers, Carson is the true poser. Does he still host TRL? He would kiss ass to the boy bands and such and then he would pretend to be a gangster or something if some hard core musician visited the studios. Ugh.

According to Earl McRae, co-founder and president of the Elvis Sighting Society Elvis now lives in Tweed, Ontario, Canada. Earl also appeared not once but twice on the Jerry Springer Show to tell his story, we even heard Elvis on the phone. I figure, if it's told on TV it must be true, right?

lol- I'd love to see that episode of Jerry. Let me guess, really early years right when Jerry did normal stuff...well as normal as Springer can get. lol

I've heard theories about E living upstairs at Graceland. You know how they have that no upstairs touring rule or something like that?

Earl McRae was the only guess for the full hour. He sat there and argued with everyone in the audience.

You see, in real life, he's a journalist and an expert on Elvis and it was just alot fun to listen to him, he's very entertaining. I think the real reason he got on the Jerry Springer Show is that Jerry is a big time Elvis fan.

The last time I saw Earl on TV was on a local community show and Elvis called near the end. This guy sounded exactly like him, it was creepy! He went on to say that he looks different and that he still sings and practises karate behind the barn. http://www.inthemist.org/forum/emoticons/elvis.gif
