The Happy Days spinoff-Mork and Mindy was number 3 during it's first season. I never watched any episodes past season one, actually i only saw the 2 part pilot. Does someone know why the show went downhill after the 78-79 season.

The first mistake the producers made was having the characters of Mork and Mindy get married. This changed the dynamic of the relationship between these two characters and was the beginning of the end of this series. The second mistake was giving them a 60 year-old 250 pound son named Mearth. (played by Jonathon Winters). This was an utterly rediculous story line and dragged the series further downhill. It also wasn't very smart dropping the characters of Mindy's father and Mindy's grandma from the cast. At least the producers realized this mistake and brought those characters back.

I tried looking at a episode of Mork and Mindy but Robin Williams was too silly-Overacting-I like the Mork character on Happy days because it was an outer space alien that freaked richie and fonzie out-but on Mork and mIndy-why did he become the person that he wasn't Happy days? I thought that was the point of spinnig that character off-but he was in regular clothes?

well, like i said before. you can't expect a caricature or an oddball to carry a 30 minute comedy. I've seen all of Mork and Mindy but the reason the show's ratings went dwn-hill so fast is because it was built on the novelty of an alien living among society. after the initial seasons of the alien learning how to function as a human, what more is there to do? Jonathan Winters' amazing talents weren't displayed. instead of having him be an over-grown baby, they should have at least made him a snooty neighbor or an amoral businessman out to ruin Fred McConnell's music store!

I posted a topic once on the Mork & Mindy board called second season damage. It's about how & why the show went downhill after the first season. If you want the info, you can look up that topic on the Mork & Mindy board because I don't really feel like typing it again.
