For people that go to highschool, Is it what you expected it to be?

Highschool is so diffrent than I pictured it...I always pictured it being like Saved by the Bell and like those 80's highschool movies.... idk...it's weird lol

I always thought it would be like saved by the bell or boy meets world...
In some ways I was right, in other ways its a lot less glamorous than it seemed from that view.

High school is definetely not what I thought it would be. I always
thought that high school would be alot of fun. But, there's so much work to do in high school, I don't have time for fun. It's amazing that I can put aside some time in my day just to post on these boards. It amazes me how some people have top marks, are in clubs and sports, and work. And, some people who are able to do that are in all the same classes as me. Looking at my classes and my workload, I won't have time for fun until 2nd semester.

High school's not even close to what I pictured it to be. I thought it was going to be fun and interesting, but it sucks.

I kind of figured high school was going to be hell. In a way I was right, but in another way I was wrong.

My Freshman year was hell. I hated it. I had to get used to the longer classes and my classes sucked, which made it even worse.

My Sophomore year was a bit better. The classes improved and I got used to the class times.

My Junior year was half and half. My first semester was okay, but the second semester kind of sucked. I only had a couple of classes I enjoyed that semester.

Senior year was my best year. It was my kick back year. I finished up all my credits during 1st semester, so I got the chance to get all easy classes during the second semester. Basically, if you do your work right during 9th-11th grade than you can finally enjoy high school during the last year.

Another thing that made my Senior year great is I finally got into the Writer's Workshop class. I had been trying to get in that class since 10th grade, but they always dropped the course because hardly anybody signed up for it. WW was my favorite class out of every class I ever took in hs.

High School to me seems so much more easierthan I ever pictured it. My teachers kept telling me that you get 3 - 4 hours of homework every night, the subjects you study are going to be much much harder than here in Elementary School, and tests are literally hours long. Well when I got to High School, I don't know where they got 3 - 4 hours of homework a night because I took AP classes, but I don't have more than 1 - 2 hours of homework. The night before A days, I don't have any homework at all, and the subject material is so easy. Math, Science, English, Spanish, it's a breeze. And tests are pretty easy too. So to me, high school turned out nothing what I thought it would be. I worried so much when I graduated that I almost killed myself with it. But everything turned out great!

You got of easy. At my old school, you couldn't take more than 6 classes a semester. When I cam here, I had so many credits to make up, so I couldn't get that advantage. Plus, colleges really look at youre last year of high school and what kind of courses you took to see if you kinda challeneged yourself. That why I took 3 AP classes this year (4 next Semester), so they could see that I can handle the load, and so far It's working, so I aint complaining! AP classes aren't as hard as everyone thinks.

I can see your situation. You see, my case is I'm not going to college. I had an offer to go to college, but I turned it down. I have such an interest in writing books that I wanted to concentrate on that. I hardly did any stories (unless it was for classes) during the hs years. I concentrated more on school than anything else, and that really squished some of the story ideas out. I must say that I'm pretty proud of the stories I've been working on lately. The ideas seem to come to me, and I work 4 or 5 hours on stories. I don't rush it. I may write a story one night and take a breather the next night. I just sent off a bunch of stories to this publishing co. in NY. I sent them to Vantage Press. I haven't heard anything back yet. I don't expect to luck up the first time around. That just isn't in the cards. I may take Kitt's idea and submit to magazines. I kind of just wanted to test out the waters with Vantage.

Oh yeah, you did bring back memories Chris. In middle school, all the teachers kept saying "The teachers at the high school won't tolerate that. They won't baby you like we do. etc." Actually, high school was better if I compare it to middle school.

I pictured my teenyears/HS days like Happy Days, Facts Of Life, and all those other shows based on teens. Nah...it wasnt. But Im not disappointed. I LOVED high school and if I could, Id do it ALL over again! MIDDLE School SUCKED though...UGH.

I pictured it being like all those teen shows too. Boy was I wrong, I despised high school, it was hell. Well, it wasn't all bad, I have a few good memories, but overall it was just the most absurd experience I've ever had - like Catch-22, only with teachers instead of army officers.

I pictured high school a little differently then it is. I thought it was gonna be hell, I was right, but the only good thing is that you could have an easy semister or a hard semister. Right now it sucks for me but next semister will be easy for me.

I heard that Stats was so easy, as long as you keep up with the homework. Accounting too.

When I was little I use to think it was like the tv shows and movies, but I know that it is not, but it would be soooooooo cool to go to BaySide High!!!

Really?! I heard prob and stat was the hardest math you'll ever take...ever....

anyway...
yeah..the way my school works it, and with IB, a lot of people have a heavy course load...especially if you're doing diploma or certificate IB... but the good thing is that you can not take classes like history and foreign language senior year.. so you can get really interesting electives, even if they are "educational" (creative writing, psych, etc)

Oh yeah..and I always thought that my friends would have a "hangout" where we went everyday afterschool. Totally does NOT happen...on tv, they NEVER show how people with jobs and sports practice after school can still manage to go to their hangout, etc...ugh.... HOWEVER, we still try to go to the diner after school on Fridays..cause most of my friends don't work, and they usually schedule short sport practices on Friday....

I found them all to be easy to me. But thats because I was never really commited to school- I had better things to do (yeah....right:rolleyes: ). I did what I had to do and got my As and Bs (and Cs...and of course a D or F for the class I sucked @). I wanted school to be fun for me and although I regret not putting as much effort as I should have...I know if I had, I wouldve been bored stiff and thats just not me to do all that effort.
