Who's gonna be at the dance? Anyona have any predictions now that the teams have been narrowed down to four?

I say the Cardinals will be there for the National League. Actually, I hope they stomp all over those dang, lucky Giants...

I think the American League will be a show down and probably go the full seven games. This could be one of the best ALCS showdowns in a while. I'm not sure who I want to win. I love the Angels and what they've been able to accomplish against all the odds, but also there are the Twins. Selig wanting to contract them last year and they don't know when to give up. Both teams are awesome. I'm just gonna watch the series and enjoy it because I honestly think it's gonna be a good one and the games want be over until the final out in the 9th.

After everything the Cardinals have been through this year, I'll be rooting for them. I also hope the Twins make it just to prove to that idiot Bud Selig that a small market team can win.

However, I think it'll be Angels vs. Cardinals with the Angels winning it all.

The Giants aren't lucky. They have TALENT. Kent, Aurilia, Ortiz, Nen, Sanders, Snow, and finally, Bonds.
They're a team that's winning. And not with luck.

Bonds-can we say highly over rated? I don't know, I just don't like the guy.

Kent- I think he'd rather ride his bike than play baseball.

Sanders- On again, off again.

Nen- He might have those 300 saves, but if I were a Giant fan I'd be mighty nervous with him coming in to the 9th with a one run lead...


There are a few Giants players I like though.

Snow is an awesome first basemen, Aurilia is solid, and Santiago has a toughness that I'm all for.

Also, who's that pitcher who pitched game 4...Hernandez? Fernandez? Something like that....he can bring it!



Go Cardinals...do it for Buck and Kyle.

Although I still say AL wins the series...

I'm not particularly fond of Bonds as a PERSON, but as a player, he's the best. He has patience. Waiting for the perfect pitch. No doubt about it, he's the best hitter in the league.

Jeff Kent has been my favorite player since I was in the seventh grade. He IS the best second baseman of the past decade, hands down.

Sanders? You're right, he's nothing in the clutch.

Nen? You're right again, he scares me sometimes. Thankfully, we had a TWO run lead going into the ninth! :lol:


The Giants are my team, simple as that. Heck, I remember being four years old and rooting for them in 89. That pesky earthquake didn't stop me from eating my pregame hotdog! So, I'll defend them til the end.

:lol: That is awesome. I feel the same way about my team, the Braves. They always seem to falter in October, but I love the fact they get there. I vaguely remember when they had a few thousand fans on a good night, then when they got on their streak and sold out every game, only to be back in the same predicament-trouble selling seats. I love my team and I intend to stick with them through it all!

The Braves are a great team, a dynasty even. And I'm amazed the Giants got past them this year. I respect them a whole lot more than other teams. *coughyankeescough*

I wanted the A's to get in but I'm excited to see it come down to the Giants and Angels. I went to an Angel's game this year, (my mom is a big fan) and I live near SF and usually go to some of their games but didn't make it this year.

I'll be rooting for both teams to do well but I hope to see the Giants pull it out in 7.

Ks, whether you like Bonds or not, it would be about impossible to overrate him. You can't do a lot more for a baseball team than he has done. He not only hits homeruns but he hits them when it counts and he scores a lot of runs. And what's his on base percentage? Probably an all time major league record or awfully close to it.

Yes indeed, OPB is major league leading and record setting. I believe it is up around .600, which is impressive in it's own right. However, he also has over 60 intentional passes and so many 'unintentional intentional' walks that increases his OBP. I know the argument is he's walked because he's respected, and that is true, but I would love to see pitcher's challenge him. The guy is a great hitter, but he won't kill you every time. He's human, he's going to miss. I also tend to thing he his a bit selfish at the plate. There are so many situations in which he could get a simple base hit to aid his team by slapping one to the left side, considering the shift is always on, but he never does. I don't know, I'm just not big on the guy...*shrugs*

You don't get a 360 batting average, or what ever it is, by hitting homeruns only. He had a lot of base hits and doubles, plus - and it's a big huge plus - he doesn't strike out much because he doesn't swing at bad pitches. It takes a lot of concentration to let them go by, and look for the pitch you can hit, when all they're doing is trying to keep you from hitting it over the fence. That is the one thing - waiting for his pitch - that separates him from Reggie Jackson and the like, that makes him even more special than most who the game. How many runs and and RBI's does he have? What more could you ask for? He is a team player! There's no goal above winnig the World Series that means more to him.

Kitt is exactly right. Bonds has patience. I mean, when he hit that home run in his first at bat in the Series, he smacked it. Waited through two balls until he got his pitch.
Like you said, ks, pitchers are afraid of him and will pitch around him. Because if they went at him like Washburn in that second inning, that's what would of happened. The ball was smoked.

I'm not going to argue if Barry Bonds is great because he is. I just don't like the guy. Especially the way after he hits a homerun he just stands at the plate and stare at the ball he just hit. Also, why is he allowed to wear that illegal arm guard? Pitchers can no longer throw inside because he has that humongous thing on his arm.
