If you've noticed during it's entire existence, FOX has had more failures than successes (ex. comedies, drama, reality). Well here's a list of short lived FOX shows, some you may remember, that have come and gone since the late 80's. Granted some of these shows were good and innovative but the majority sucked or looked liked bad ideas.

Really cool list. There were a lot of good shows there, I just hope that ones that are currently not on DVD get a release.

I'd love to have Brimstone on DVD as it is my favourite show ever and sorely missed. But I'd love to have The Street, Werewolf, Opposite Sex, Ned & Stacey, Get Real, Woops! on DVD as well.

wow, alot of cool shows. some were crap but alot of them were very interesting, and offered something alternative to what the big three were showing at the time.
i loved so many of those shows listed, even though they weren't all "great" they were just different.
I wish they made more, Keen Eddie, Get a Life, Pasedena. Just to name a few.

Whoa, that's some list! Major props for taking the time and effort to put it together.

The scary part is that while I've never heard of some of those shows, I actually do remember a good number of them. Perhaps this is a sign that I've clocked in way too many hours of tv viewing!

I read somewhere that their new GET SMART series was so bad that Andy Dick-who was one of the stars-knew how bad it was after doing just a couple episodes, so he signed on to do NEWSRADIO on NBC.

he should have been able to tell how bad it was after shooting the first couple of episodes.

- for that matter he should have been able to tell how bad it was going to be just going off the knowledge that he was starring in it.

I really got into Proffit. It starred Adrian Pasdar and the main character was just weird. Seemed to be a psychopath...and at the end of every episode, he crawled into a cardboard box and curled up in a fetal position. Only 6 or 7 episodes were aired before being cancelled...but I thought it was a very good show and was disappointed when it was taken off the air.

The Ben Stiller Show was one of the few sketch comedies (along with Mr. Show, The State, and to a certain extent, Kids in the Hall) to effectively capture that Gen X "vibe." Unfortunately, Gen Xers weren't a large enough demographic to be of much interest to advertisers and TV programmers. I think that's part of the reason the show didn't survive or get the attention it deserved until years later.

I remember the show WOOPS!, the premise was a small group of people who survived a nuclear explosition and now had to live together, critics immediately made comparisons to Gilligan's Island for it's stupid idea.

I LOVED Herman's Head, it was a very underrated show from the minds of Paul Junget Witt and Tony Thomas the men behind SOAP, Benson, The Golden Girls, Empty Nest, Nurses, It's a Living, One Big Family, Blossom, The John Larroquette Show and Beauty and the Beast Starring Linda Hamilton of The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day

It had William Ragsdale another underrated actor, Hank Azaria and Yerdeley Smith both from The Simpsons and Jane Sibbett from Friends and the short-lived CBS Comedy The Famous Teddy Z w/Jon Cryer (in his 1st starring role in a TV Series) and the late Alex Rocco of The Facts of Life

I also like GREED, the show was great and it had SOLID Ratings, the only problem was that FOX was DUMB enough to pull the show off the air b/c it had Higher Ratings than their signature show The Simpsons

GREED was FOX's answer to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and I like it WAY better than Millionaire

The show was hosted by Chuck Woolery the former host of Wheel of Fortune, SCRABBLE, Love Connection, the 5th host of The Dating Game and host of GSN's LINGO and the show was Produced by Bob Boben (Former Senior Vice President for Game Show Network) and the late TV Icon Dick Clark of Pyramid, Bloopers and of course, his signature show American Bandstand

What about The Heights? That show only lasted a few episodes in 1992. Not sure if it's a sitcom though.
