I remember that episode where the Indian was played by veteran actor Victor Jory who claimed the diner was built on a sacred burial ground.

whoever came up with that idea for an episode should have been banned from show business. It was just so random and weird and made no sense. I dont think its possible to see a episode worst than that one

Even worse than the one Alice and Carrie (Mel's mom) sing "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" (episode "The Over-the-Hill Girls")...I didn't think that was possible ;)

Im also upset that in August of 2024 I had the entire series to watch on the internet for free and then it vanished. I was thinking it would be available forever lol

this crappy episode was on Antenna TV yesterday:lol: Haven since I posted this thread
You are spot on about the episode—it is titled "The Indian Taker" (Season 2, Episode 2) and is widely considered one of the strangest and lowest-rated segments of the entire series.
The plot is every bit as bizarre as you remember:
The Premise: Veteran actor Victor Jory plays Billy "The Scam" Williams, who claims Mel’s Diner is sitting on his tribe's sacred burial ground.
The "Random" Twist: He refuses to leave because he has "come there to die," which turns the diner into a weird vigil site until Mel offers him $200 to leave.
The B-Plot: While this is happening, Alice is struggling with a crash diet, which only adds to the episode's erratic energy.
While many fans agree "The Indian Taker" is a low point (it holds a low 5.8 rating on IMDb), some viewers argue that the Season 8 episode "The Over the Hill Girls" is actually worse. That one features Alice and Mel's mom doing a "cringe-worthy" duet of "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" that many find even harder to watch than the burial ground plot.
Do you think Mel paying 200 bucks to get rid of the guy was the most "Mel" thing he could have done, or should he have just called the cops?

I'm in the minority here, but I kind of liked the old Indian episode !
Than the Walton's had a similar episode where an old Indian said the Walton's barn was built on sacred Indian ground .
Not sure which came first ? If Alice copied the Walton's or if the Walton's copied Alice?

Over the Hill Girl was much more watchable than the Indian

Im going to guess and say Alice copied the Waltons since it was at the very beginning of season 2
