Hey Moon! I think we need to have a branch of Club Hubba Hubba started on this message board, considering how many postings there have been re: Freddie's physical attributes. There are obviously alot of potential members here! What does anyone else think?

Y'know, fellow Hubba Hubbas, it just occurred to me that throughout all the postings that convinced me we needed this club, there is one attribute nobody has mentioned. I can't imagine that no one has noticed (with the way Freddie always wears his shirts half unbuttoned)what a great chest he had. I can't go for those guys who look like they're wearing bearskin rugs, so I would've loved to cuddle up against Chico. Who's with me?

Yeah, being with the same man for 15 years has just made me ready to notice all this stuff, I guess. Nothing wrong with what I've got, but Chico is just the dark, smoldering, sensual, outrageously romantic type that my man isn't. Guess I need that more than I thought! At least I'm not prowling the real world to find it LOL! And I was old enough when CATM was first on that I wasn't totally oblivious to Freddie's charms then either.

OK now--what's next on the list?

I was 21 when catm first aired in the 70's so I too remember ALL of the above attributes as well as many others-ah there is something to be said for age. The reruns have brought it all back to me-there is something to be said for reality but fantasy is a wonderful thing too-agree??

Hey Esmerelda--Yeah, I could go on for days on the subject of those eyes! It's always been a toss-up as to which was more beautiful about his face, the eyes or the lips? You're welcome for the bucket of water, but none of it got on me and I think I may have some very sweet dreams tonight! Wait, there's a thought--anyone ever had a dream about him? That can be posted, I mean. (How careful do we have to be anyway?)

I know when he was young if we would have

Anyway, I watched Chico when I was young and
never noticed him the way I do now. But I never claimed to be smart when I was young. He does get better looking with each new episode. Count me in as a club member. He is very easy on the eyes, which makes him all the more endearing. He played the character to a tee. It's not hard to love Chico.

Here I am, I just took a cold shower!!! That "Looking good Freddie" was FINE!!! I love it when he comes out with the orange shirt and the white pants & that tennis racket in his hand. It sometimes comes out on the commercial for the show. When he came out dressed like Elvis this morning WELL....... (I ran to the showers again).................. Believe me that I've checked out Freddie in every which way possible!!! LOOKING GOOD..............................

The orange shirt (open to THERE), the white pants, the sunglasses, the tennis moves...oh yeah, until I get a chance to watch the episode with the Elvis outfit (My 3 year old has custody of the TV right now), that is my favorite image of Chico, no question!!! Hey, have we mentioned his legs? The tight jeans did alot for them too (or is it the other way around?)!

So you want to go at it again.... "Well" - Did you see Freddie in the hospital room? His robe kept opening up & you can see his belly button, stomach & chest! OOOOOOWWWWW! (If my older son hears me talk like this....... He would be so embarassed). OOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!

I agree about the pj's-weird. I can't imagine Chico wearing them-bottoms maybe but not flannel and certainly not that awful pattern. Imagine if he had only worm briefs or just pj bottoms-every picture tube in America would have burned out!!!

best. I have noticed a lot of mistakes in
the scripts. When Chico was in the hospital
he referred to his father as having died, but in earlier episodes he was not suppose to have even known his father??? What's up with that? Does anyone know what was suppose to have happened to Chico's mother? Was he orphaned at an early age? I missed the first few shows. Please enlighten me if you know.

Hi Mariposa! I am sorry, I do not have a scanner to post the pic of Freddie in boxing trunks. It was taken toward the end of his short life-with the big-hair, thin-faced Freddie! The pic is in an out-of-print book, called "Too Young to Die", by Patricia Fox-Sheinwold from 1978! Freddie is profiled, among other celebs. Maybe your library has it-that's where I first saw mine! Great read!

Hey Dannii, thanx for the info re: the book "Too Young to Die"! I'll try to find it here, but this is a small town with a podunk library, and I don't get to the city much! Anyway--wasn't Freddie's hair always big? That's one reason I thought it might have been a wig at certain times. I don't think I've seen any of the later episodes. Do drug addicts sometimes lose their hair, so maybe it was a wig then? And to all those who already basically told me I was nuts to think it was ever a wig, I'M JUST ASKIN', OK?

There was a point where Freddie's hair did look like a wig-I wish I could remember the episode where I thought it might be. It looked too perfect and too big.It was in one of the earlier episodes. I wondered if maybe while he was high he might have cut it or messed it up in some way and maybe the wig was used until it grew back-kind of stretching things a bit but it was a thought.
But on the othet hand there were episodes where he touched ho hair or someone else did(Liz when he had the cracked ribs) and you knew it was really his own hair.Speaking of that hospital episode, I just had a flashback to chico's belly button-what a lovely thought-guess I'll go think about it some more- keep that pail of water handy,my friends--

Not sure but I am going to go back and check out the episode-not exactly sure how far into the episodes it was-I kind of think maybe he dabbled a bit in drugs way back just because of being so young and having been exposed to it in the entertainment business but think te pressures just gotto him and he fell deeply into it.

Also in the same episode- check out chico's ring-first it was on his right hand then his left then not at all-very weird!! I love looking at those hands!!

I always thought Chico should wear jewelry to enhance the attributes we've already discussed--such as continuing to wear the necklace from the pilot episode to complement his beautiful neck and chest, and a ring or two on those long sexy fingers! But I found it unrealistic that a mechanic would wear a ring--my husband works on cars in his spare time, and always gives me his wedding ring to hold because he's afraid of ripping off his finger!

Enough quibbling! As to an appropriate name for (you know), I found a word in my Spanish dictionary that seems appropriate in a lot of ways--"chicote". It fits with the character's name, and is a word for "cigar" (I still think he looked very sexy smoking in the "Aunt Connie Returns" episode, and "smokin'" would probably fit how he would use this particular attribute!). For those who don't know Spanish, the "e" on the end of "chicote" is pronounced like a long "a".

As for Liz, I don't know about letting her in the Club--maybe if she only posted messages and didn't talk (her voice gets on my last nerve!). I would like to ask her how it felt to kiss Chico--do you think he was using that fabulous tongue (it sure looked like he might have been)?!!!!

BTW--Anyone know of any episode where we could get a good view of his legs?

"SPLASH" There it is! A couple more SPLASH, SPLASH, SPLASH....... Chicote it is. It seems that on Season 3 is when you start noticing that he is staying up all night. He lost weight but, he was still so fine! I remember seeing these same episodes back in the 70's & people were commenting on his weight loss. That was it though. I don't recall anyone talking about his drug use back then. Only his closest friends knew about it. The media hid it well. He wore his Navy velvet jacket today & I had to smile. It's one of my favorites. "Still Looking Good"!

I just finished watching the episode where Chico moves out, and I think there were more signs than just weight loss that he was failing. I agree the story line about staying out late was probably a cover, but look close at his face--it looks as though they were putting alot more make-up that was way too dark on him, and his eyes already look sort of sunken in. Plus, his nose looks weird--this is where I got my question in an earlier message re: if it had ever been broken. Someone said maybe it had collapsed due to cocaine? I've seen that explanation elsewhere, too.

On to happier thoughts--I would have loved to watch him do almost anything a man does to fix himself up for the day! I have a scene in my story (HAVE YOU READ IT YET?!)like that. And as much as I dislike smoking, I would have put up with it in his case!

The blue velvet jacket was the greatest--congrats to the wardrobe person who picked it! And thanx for the votes for "chicote". Now, what did we want to talk about re: that?

I see what you mean when you say his nose looked broken. He even looked like he was in a fight of some sort. His under eyes looked so black. Signs of staying up all night. I never knew a nose could collapse from drug use. I heard that a person could get holes inside their nostrels but a collapsed nose? Has anyone else heard of this? --- When I was younger I saw none of that. I was so young. All I saw was my huge crush Chico..... Well he is gone but, not forgotten..... On to the Chicote pants! WHHHOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I've heard of celebrities having to have surgery on their noses to repair the damage from too much cocaine. I'm not sure if the correct term for what happens is "collapsing", but I think that's what I read in a couple of different places re: Freddie and also others. Maybe the writer just meant a hole had formed. In any case,
it's going to be difficult to watch CATM from here until Freddie's last episode--all I can pay attention to is his deterioration.

Someone else will have to take over the "chicote" discussion for now--I'm getting too depressed!

I usually watch the video tapea few times during the course of the day-today I just couldn't-it was just too painful.He just looked sooo thin and his face looked splotchy and drawn-I even noticed how thin his beautiful hands looked-I never remember seeing that when the shows first aired-guess I was just too much in love at that time to notice-ah yes there is something to be said for the naievity(?sp) of youth!!!

You think you pay attention to detail? I drive myself crazy watching the taped episodes as closely as I can manage, to take in everything about the appearance, the mannerisms (including the sexy strut, yeah!), the speech, everything about Freddie. I guess that's because I feel it so strongly that there will never be any more. I know you all feel the same way, and I love communicating all this with you.

OK, I'm gonna stop depressing everybody now--there were some happy moments in the episode shown today. When his girlfriend told Chico to "Turn something on" (a light), the way he said,"That's what I'm trying to do!" and went to kiss her just melted me! And when he started speaking FRENCH--Oh my God! And I already mentioned the dancing! Let's continue along those lines, shall we?

Are you kidding? I noticed the thing with the thumbs in the belt like immediately! And of course he did it on purpose! Nervous, maybe--I never know where to put my hands when I'm in front of a group (like he was with a live audience), but I would never draw attention to such a part of myself unless I was TRYING to get all the members of the opposite sex in that group to think of me as sexy! Oh my God--I just turned on the TV and I see you're right--his arms were so thin! And he seemed to be sweating alot in the closeups. I agree with JennyLee22, we need to get this bad stuff out of our systems, too.

The episode with Marilyn was the one where chico was going to get married, mando got him the ring and he gave it to her on her keychain. Marilyn broke his heart because she wanted to wait for someone more successful He gave her a lip lock that was not to be believed-chck it out!!!
I guess we have to discuss both good and bad-as long as we discuss,right??

it was good to see freddie get credit for writing but so sad to see he was hurting inside and no one to reach out to. we can see
he needed help, why the people around him
could not. Tony Orlando's wife got help for
tony, elaine flew tony on a private jet to
a hospital. The hospital was not the place he
wanted to be so he checked himself into the
waldolf-astoria hotel (not sure of the correct spelling)in new york. It is a d---n
shame freddie did not have anyone to love
and care for him. If we all had been there,
I know we have enough love and strength to
have pulled him through. let's be strong for
each other and freddie over these next few

You know, I couldn't wait to see this episode because it explained how Chico moved out of the van and into the storeroom.(something I wondered about and missed during the marathon). But I, too, found it a hard episode to watch. Not so much for his physical problems,that was hard enough, but I was more upset with his anger at Ed. This episode was a cry for help, I'm sure. This will be a hard season to watch. I'll probably watch some of the first two seasons in between to keep my spirits up. It's great we have our fellow Hubbas to laugh and cry with. PS I love the name Chicote, very fitting. PPS I always thought the Marilyn kiss was His personal best. After it aired I played that section of the tape over(and over, and over, and over, well you get the point) My only complaints are that it wasn't long enough (the duration, not the tongue) and it wasn't me. But I can tell you that THAT kiss inspired many erotic dreams. Well, I'd better take a really cold shower now.

Does anybody know how many episodes Freddie wrote? I agree he had alot of anger and it was pouring out on that episode. (He moved out & possibly in real life he moved to his apartment at that time).

I hate the weekends. No Freddie on T.V. No Looking good, No nothing, & now we have to wait until 5:00 A.M. to continue to see the episodes. They've done a real injustice to his fans. I have to whip out my tapes to get my TV Land Freddie satisfaction. He sure was Looking good!!!!!

I just noticed that in my time zone which is
the central time, CATM will be on at 4 a.m.
I don't know how to program my VCR to come on automatically so I'm going to have to learn FAST! I also realized that CATM won't
be on here at 4 a.m. tomorrow because they will still be showing GET SMART fandemonium.
I will have to wait until Tuesday! Does that
mean that I will be missing a whole episode?

Yea, I just got up at five for nothing. I went to TVLand.com and it looks like it is running Tues through Saturday am's. We need to deluge tvland mail room with angry e-mails of protest. Tell your friends, tell your loved ones. Recrute enemies, I don't care. I have HAD IT with TVLand!!!!!I checked the schedule against the list of episodes on this site and it looks like we will get all of the Freddie episodes, but beyond that, tvland ain't talking. ARE YOU WITH ME!!!

My friend the singer, one of his friends has a website on him & I wrote on there starting a topic asking folks to write TVLAND asking them to move CHICO to a better timeslot. The topic quickly turned into a jokey one LOL! Topics do go jokey on there alot LOL! Hopefully that will bring a little more attention to our plight. Good luck!
