He is one of the most popular superheros of our big and small screens, but the actors that played them have had some tragic downfalls in their lives.
George Reeve -Superman from 1952-57 on our TV screens. died in 1959 of either a sucide, or murder, its never been solved.
Chris Reeves- Superman in 4 big hit movies playing superman, paralized from neck down in 1995 from being thrown off of a horse.
Which brings me back to my first question, Is Superman...............Cursed?

I must admit that it is kind of a freaky coincidence with the whole Superman thing. I'll split it up in two ways:

George~ I don't know why the guy committed suicide. I guess typecasting drove him to do it, but it was still a pretty stupid thing to do.

Chris~ His situation is pretty tragic too, but at least he is still here. The guy has such a wonderful outlook on life. I saw him on some talk show and he seems so upbeat about life. I'm not too sure how many people would do the same thing. I'm pretty sure most people would lose hope in life. However, Chris is making so much progress. I've heard that he can now control the movement in his fingers. It was something like that.

However, I just rule it down to coincidences.

his wife probably has to recieve pleasure elsewhere too. hell they cant get it on together, the guy cant even do anything on his own. i bet they made an agreement she could bring another man in for bedroom pleasure, but nothing else.

I won't even say what I'm thinking.

You must be the type that thinks all people care about is sex and screwing around. *Gasp* However, there are people that actually love a person as a person instead of how great they perform sex.

*Gasp! The world just might end now for this person.

anyway, on Jennys FIRST message, i dont see how George could be typecast as superman that much because take away the superman/clark kent act/dress, put him in a regular role, you would never know it was superman, and from what i understand his murder or sucide whichever it was, dont think had to do with his acting work at all. also the actor acted 10 or so years prior to superman.

I actually used to wonder the same thing - George Reeves and Christopher Reeve seem to have a lot of things in common - not to mention their last names. But, what's his name from Lois & Clark (Dean Kain?) seems to be doing fine. Don't forget though, Lois Lane from the Christopher Reeve movies - Margo Kidder I think - she had that big thing a few years ago, sounded like she went a little crazy. Christopher Reeve very generously offered to help pay for whatever may be needed to make her well again. Now that's a hero.

It seems as though replacements always have names like the originals.I mean think about it.Besides George and Christopher.....

Both Darrins were Dicks (Dick York and Dick Sargent)

The Husbands on "Life With Bonnie" have similar last names (Derwin and Kerwin).

And someone else but I forget who!

You are either very young or really shallow! I'm sure his wife has more on her mind than sex. Like.........taking care of him and her family. She has stuck by him all these years and I really admire her. That's maturity! Grow up!

since Chris has been slowly getting feeling back in his body, do you think he will ever be fully recovered?

I'm not really sure. I really hope he fully recovers. He is such a kind person, and I just hope he does recover.

A friend sent me this. It looks like the newest Superman is determined not to join the other "cursed" ones...

VANCOUVER-- Tom Welling, the young actor who plays Clark Kent in the new series
Smallville, is not agreeable to doing stunts with horses.

In a script for an upcoming episode, Welling is supposed to jump on the back of
a hysterical horse, driven-mad by kryptonite.

Welling is well aware of what happened to Christopher Reeve, the man who wore
the Superman mantle prior to Welling, when he last got onto the back of a horse.

"I think I'll pass on the whole equestrian thing," said Welling.

Don't forget about poor Dean Cain. His career didn't exactly skyrocket after Lois and Clark.

You got a point there. Speaking of Dean, this is for all the Division fans. I bet it's already been posted over there, but this is for all those TD fans that didn't know. I just came from zap2it.com and Dean will play Jinny's boyfriend for a few episodes. Let me find the link:
