I really wanna go to NYU when I graduate, i was wondering if anyone knew what type of grades, GPA, communtiy service, ex. you need to ahve to get in. Any info would be great thanks :)

I have no idea, but I wanna go there, too. (Tisch School Of The Arts, actually...) If anyone has any info, pleas epost it for two fellow members in need!!!

My roommate is a NYU graduate. I will ask him for some of the criteria.

But, just from what I know, I would say you would have to study really hard. So get cracking...

I'll tell you this, it is a fantastic University. I myself, have gone to NYU.(Although I didn't graduate.;)) It is a very difficult school to get into, but if you have the grades, it is well worth it. I'm thinking about going back to take a couple of courses myself.

This may sound weird, but is it a high B or a low B? SAT scores also play a part of getting accepted.

93 A-
88 B
89 B
86 B

i'm pretty sure those were the grades. We only have 4 classes a semester and we are getting a new report card soon.

Those grades will definitely help you to get in.

I had about the same grades as you, maybe I had another A thrown in there. If those grades have been consistent your entire high school career, you shouldn't have that much of a problem getting accepted.

NYU is SO political. My friend got straight A's, got a 1400 and something on his SATs and his VERY talented (auditioned for the Tisch school) yet STILL didn't get into the academic or Tisch. It's all about who you are, not always your talent or hard work. Sad to say, but true. Obviously not in all cases, but for the most part, it's who you know or social status. I'd still apply though, but I think the hype of NYU is just that -- a hype. If the school weren't in the dead of Manhattan, it would be out of business. ;) Of course, that's just my opinion from what I've viewed. Schools are very subjective anyway... there isn't a single school that everybody LOVES or everybody HATES. You're always gonna get 50/50 no matter what school it is. It's about you and your preferences. So, if you want it, go for it! You have just as good a shot as everyone else! Good luck! :-D

Oh, yes... and if you ARE applying there, you don't have any shot if you get grades lower than B's. Just know even if you get straight A's, it's still a highly competitive school. I wish you the best of luck though! :-D

So your saying that you have to be a rich snob to get in? I mean I am not related to anyone famous or anything- I'm average. GREAT :(.
Now I know why Theo Huxtable got in, because he had RICH parents. I was always confussed by that because he was so dumb but got in.

Don't be discouraged. Sure the Tisch School is very competative, but there are other schools that are part of NYU...

But I'm happy with The University of Colorado at Denver. It's my #1 choice right now. :D

Umm..it's pretty pricey-- 36 grand / year, even if you live in NY!!
SAT....looks like a higher than 1300 combined about average...about 1340 it looks like
GPA -- 3.0 or higher
about 30% of applicants are accepted

about 30% of applicants are accepted cool thanks. Yikes that is pricey ohwell. I don't think I'll have a problem with the gpa, but the sat I'm not sure. Thats not good only 30% are accepted.

Who's to say you can't be a part of that 30%? Hey getting into any University isn't easy, it is a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck. I made it into NYU without having any connections or some rich, snobby parents. People that say those things are just bitter because they didn't get in and want some sort of excuse. Trust me, your grades are adequate.

Megan go UNC Chapel-Hill one of the nations best journalism/communications schools (thats if I go to Georgetown...alright a bit of reach but its alrigh)
